watched what kind of fats that i ate. stayed away from bad ones. use skim milk. wouldn't eat past 5pm or so. ate lite all day. stretching it out. a lot of water. i'm the type that i don't have to have something different every day which allowed me to see how things went with the weight a lot easier. so before the cheerios, i did the exact same thing and couldn't breach the 170 mark. at one point i was down to 161.8 then thanksgiving came around. i also eat things that will digest easier and at my age i've even started to use the prunes for help. a lot of it is just figuring out what your body can take and what it can't take. try it for a couple weeks and see what happens. |

If you haven't tried Hot/Flow/Forest/Bikram Yoga, you might be amazed at it's benefits. It's not gay, in fact it is the most challenging activity I have done since Speedway Motorcycle Racing. I've only just begun two months ago, and now I can easily touch my toes, my flexibility, balance, posture, skin and body-tone have changed noticeably for the better. It helped me quit smoking. Oh yeah, go to a studio, there are tons of sweaty hotties at every session! I go 2-3x week, $10 per 1.5 hour class. And your wife/lady may like to go with you as a shared experience. Yoga is a great workout. |

P90X definitely gets the job done. It's just so friggin' hard to keep with it unless you have at least 1.5+ hours a day, six days a week to get your ass absolutely kicked. All workouts, including warm-up/cool-down, are about an hour except for Yoga X, which is 1.5 hours long. Hard, but actually quite enjoyable after a few times. I need to get back in it ... last summer I did eight weeks and lost about 15 pounds while putting a bunch of muscle on. Time to get back into it. |

http://www.fitnessdestinations.com/p90x-review-day -4-yoga-x/ I've never heard of Yoga X, but it sounds like to be in line with what we do in class, but maybe it's practiced on your own. That said, being in class with 40 others is a motivating experience(strangers at first who are now becoming my new friends), also the heat and humidity caused by all those active bodies really pushes me to my limit. I'm 44, 6'3 200lb, while I don't expect nor need to loose any weight, I have never been able to touch my toes, even in high school--now I can with ease. Just sayin'... |

The YogaX is a ass kicker. MSF and Riders Edge classes are starting and so far I have only be able to do the YogaX to the first break. (about 30 min. into the video) I don't have time to work out after work on Thursday and Friday because I don't get home until about 10pm. So I've been getting up around 5am on Thursday and Friday to workout.... IT SUCKS! Gotta be in the shower by 6:15 to get to work in time so the workout has been getting cut short. |

hey, it looks like you are all doing the right things. A few things just to touch on are eating smaller meals but more frequently, I realize thats hard to do but it keeps your metabolism going rather than putting your body into kind of a starvation mode between each meal. Always and I mean ALWAYS eat a nice breakfast. Sugared cerials are no good, sugar spikes your insulin which then just basically makes you fat. Even really simple starches like potatos or white bread are too easy to digest and turn to fat quickly. Protein is one of the best things to eat. It is so hard for your body to break down that your body uses a decent portion of energy just to break it down to where it can even be metaobolized. Eat lots of protein and complex carbs like whole grains. Staying fully hydrated helps a lot also and make sure you are taking a vitamin as well as eating all our veggies. Fruits are ok but even their more "natural" sugar isnt the best thing you could eat. Eating lots of protein and excercising will burn fat like nobodys business. You will gain a little muscle mass which actually requires more calories to maintain than fat so just putting a bit of muscle on turns you into a calorie burning machine even while resting. |

Hhmmm been working out for a little over a week now with little to no result. Not a lot, about 30-45 min a day of full on program. Hopefully my body will realise what I'm trying to do to it this week and show me a little love back. Not posting start weight, but will track progress on or off. Want to ditch about 10kg (or swap it for muscle weight). |

scott is right. diet is everything. not how less you eat but what you eat. and more small meals a day. i worked out for a long time and ate like crap. just gained strength size, lost some fat but could never cut up till i had a strict diet. and that is hard to live by. i now gave up regular weight lifting and started crossfit. if you think your in shape then give this a try. but how you diet is still 50 % of the work out. you can google it just type in crossfit. they give a workout of the day and lots of reading to teach you all about it. i love it |

OK - I like this thread - been exercising a fair amount just not getting the calories down! I want to drop some lbs so the Uly + me is lighter for the trip to Homecoming (well also the knees etc. do not like the added weight) Hope to shed 20 lbs by June. Starting at 6'6" and 275. I started using a BodyBug - it records calories burned in a day to 90% accuracy. Good to know how many calories you burn even if you can not work out, easier to balance the caloric intake. Like the system so far. |

Had a good week. Lots of exercise--swimming, walking, frisbee golf and some free weights, too. Moderate success with portion control and increased fresh fruit and veggies intake. Stayed hydrated. Not enough sleep, though, so was frequently tired. 3/30/10: 212 (down 2.5 lbs from last week) |

So far the P90X is keeping me interested. After my coffee kicked in twice yesterday and working out last night, I got on the scales before I ate or drank anything and saw 227.5 on the scale. Can't wait to see what next Monday brings. |

I started the P90X about 3 weeks ago. Third day in I caught the flu, so was out two weeks. So I basically started over a couple of days ago. I knew I was out of shape... But, DAMN!!!! The second morning my Triceps hurt so bad I couldn't lift the S2 off the stand, so I had to take the XB to work, and it still HURT! I have backed off how hard I was pushing it a bit and it has been better. Also backed off some of the nutrition items. I know that what they want is good, but I felt like a crack addict withdrawing without some carbs. So moderating that some now too. I'd rather ease into it and take a little longer, than to burn out. Was 209. Between the flu and the P90X, now I'm at 192. Still got a good 30#'s to go though... |

I have backed off how hard I was pushing it a bit and it has been better. It didn't take me long to do the same thing. I thought I was gonna die the first day. Damn near blew chunks in the sink!... LOL I have changed my diet but I'm not following their guide. I just cut out all the crap I've been eating. |

Love the P90X I'm into phase 2 had to change some days around to fit in the time I have. The first week through a cycle is always a killer. I couldn't follow the diet plan it was too confusing, the wife talked me into trying weight watchers and I have to say it makes it easy to follow, eat what you want, just track it. from 207 5 weeks ago to 195 last week, should be less this week. |

Damn near blew chunks in the sink!... Been there, done that! 3/15/10 209# 3/29/10 192# 4/05/10 191.5# Yeah, I'm not following the food part. It was like I was going into withdrawal or something, trying to eat that healthy all at once. I have been following the work out routine to the letter though. I still push it, just not to the very brink like that first night or two... Heck, I'm just thrilled that I didn't go up this week with the food fest at my parent house (Easter)! |

Alright Ft-ass.....now that I know where the picture show is......duh! I started this round at eight million pounds. I want to get to 200 pounds as a functional weight. Not as a matter of passing it on the way down as I dehydrate after my passing, hopefully in the eighty year range or so, depending on my ability to smoke it through some twisties. I was at 226 last week, just back from my official weigh in at 224.8 so the direction meter is on the correct heading. Wolfie, man you really chunked up from last seasons' work ethic program. Been eating crap eh? Ewwwwwweeee that is nasty. I envy you folks who can work out. |
