Although I plan to continue riding to work as much as I can, and take a few short jaunts here and there, if the temps remain above freezing, I got my last ride of the season in on Sunday. I went counter-clockwise around Lake Winnebago. I got a later start on Sunday than I would have liked, especially considering the time change, but I went anyway. I didn't go straight to the lake at first. I meandered over into eastern Fond du Lac county and found some twisties, with some amazing sweepers, and some elevation changes. Then, I headed back west and hugged the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago. I was really hoping to find more public access to the lake, but there wasn't very much. It seemed to be mostly private roads to private beaches. However, High Cliff State Park is on the northeast corner of the lake, and I imagine that there would be public access there. Unfortunately, as I don't have my state park sticker for the bike, I did not venture in. I'll be sure to check it out next season though. Rounding the northern tip of the lake was rather uneventful, but nice country just the same. Menasha had some interesting photo opportunities, but everywhere I wanted to stop, there were "No Parking" signs on both sides of the street, so I just motored through, and enjoyed the view for myself. I did stop in Neenah and took some pictures there, and finally in Oshkosh. However, as I started out later than I wanted to, it was getting dark as I was heading south out of Oshkosh. Any more photos were out of the question at this point, and I had to keep my eyes peeled for deer, but it was till a nice ride home. Thank goodness for heated grips! I have provided a couple of links below. The first one is the route that I took, and the second is to the photos that I took. http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner /share/270654 http://pdg.smugmug.com/photos/swfpopup.mg?AlbumID= 10190977&AlbumKey=TVi8h |

So thats what WI. looks like huh? I didn't have enough time to go site seeing when I was there and the weather didn't permit it either. I saw a few Cider farms or whatnot I would have stopped at. (Nice Ss btw) I did go buy some Zeiglers Apple Cider when I got home. |
