Well, season is over. Ended up with 8. 7 with bow, 1 with ML. Tammy didn't get one this year. I was also unable to put her nephew on one that would come into his limited bow range. Oh well, we had a blast trying to outsmart them. Now it's onto turkey season that begins in mid April and runs thru mid May. Then in June it's back to Africa! |

I'm at 6 so far(season closes end of March). 4 with the bow, all doe's. I passed several small bucks early on and got busted by the one 8pt I saw all season. Haven't purchased commercial meat in over a year. |

I've had a couple in the backyard this summer. Tons of rabbits running around. I'm hoping the coyote's have moved on. |

Sept 7 Urban Archery begins. The stands are hung and have 5 weeks to cool off before opening day. This year I have a new tactic; employing discarded fake xmas trees and baling wire to conceal the stands. The area I hunt is very mountainous and it isn't uncommon to have a 35 yard shot on one side and a deer at eye level on the other. Most of the trees I hunt from are bare trunks, so I need as much breaking up my outline as possible. NUTS |

DaveS, I'm doing the made in USA thing with my bow, everything except arrows. I want made in USA arrows too, not just assembled in USA like I've heard Easton/Cabelas does. Any references? So far the setup includes: Bow Sight Rest Broadhead Release All manufactured in Virginia |

Most Easton and Beman arrows are made here. The Flatlines and Beman Speeds are not There might be a couple others. Pretty much ALL other brand arrows are made overseas. Tell me about your setup, bow, lbs,DL and what you are looking for in an arrow Also a price range? |

Parker Blackhawk EZ draw @70lbs 31" DL 100 grain Exodus BH. I have a dozen arrows for this season but I have an elk hunt scheduled for 2015. For that hunt I'm open to the wisdom of the pro. NUTS (Message edited by Nutsosane on August 22, 2013) |

At that setup I would go with some Easton Bloodline(made in US) 330 spine, cut arrows at 30" (of course, I have them in stock) If we go longer than 30" on the arrow we would want to go to a 300 spine. What type of arrow rest are you using? Excellent choice on the Broadheads! |

Dave, I'm using the QAD Ultrarest (another Virginia product). My current arrow length is 30.75" and with the swept blades of the Exodus I can't go much shorter, definitely not 3/4" shorter. Do you have bare shafts available? I've re-fletched my Gold Tips with a right helical and they seem to be more forgiving. You don't have any used TD Recurves for sale do ya? NUTS |

I do not stock bare shafts. If I do people want ME to fletch them and I do not have time to fletch 50,000.00 worth of arrows per year! lol You should have plenty of BH clearance to pull the BH all the way back to the arrow rest if you wanted? Center shot good? Arrow ride height good? Where would they hit on your bow? At 30.75 the 330 spine would still probably work fine. I sell about 300 QAD rests per year, awesome rest. Always harder without the bow and customer in front of me! |

Daves, I sincerely wish we had a "Double Lung Archery" locally. Unfortunately, the state of Virginia see deer as a nuisance instead of a profitable resource. Too many rednecks who shoot deer from the truck, only to cut out the back straps and horns. My guess is 50% of the deer kill go unreported. Folks like that have zero interest in purchasing quality, archery equipment and practicing ethical harvest. The county I hunt in allows one deer kill per hunter, per day. The county east of us allows two deer per day. And statewide there is NO hunting allowed on Sunday. Crazy! |

we have people that shoot deer from their trucks here too. Once in a while they actually catch one or two. VA must have a ton of deer. Here you can only shoot 1 buck for the season. You can shoot multiple doe but you have to have a doe tag for the specific county you hunt. Not all counties have doe tags available and they are a limited supply. I couldn't live in a state that doesn't allow Sunday hunting. That's the only day I get to go for all day. |

I do know of one Pro Shop in VA, The Hunting Shack. I have met the owners and they seem like good people? http://www.huntnshak.com/ |

Daves, that shop is five hours from me. These conversations have helped me realize I need to be more self-sufficient. So now I'm hunting a bow press and vice. I'm going to learn all this stuff and be my own PRO. Any chance you have a hunting, takedown recurve for sale in the shop? I'm after something with 40lb limbs. Thanks, NUTS |

I only have 50 lb recurves on hand at this time. 2 Hoyt Buffalo 1 Hoyt Dorado For no more often than your bow should need to be in a press I would just get a Bow Master pocket press. Or build one, plenty of DIY plans out there. My press, with all attachments was over 1100.00 dealer cost. |

Shot the #4 doe at 55 yds last week. She weighed 145lb on the butchers scale. Mega doe for these parts. The exodus broadhead is terrific. I watched the arrow in flight for what seemed like a week until the lumenock disappeared through the shoulder. It penetrated both shoulders and imbedded 3" in the ground. Found her in a thicket 30 yds from the arrow. |

Sounds like you're wearing em' out Nuts. You might have to break down and get the industrial sized freezer . I've gotten deep up in the long range shooting, so I'm waiting on one to present itself on the far side of 400. |
