Cindy's Ride continues, now hooking a right back onto Main Street and headed north, with the Hartford City PD controlling the intersections. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 27, 2009) |

My photos don't show it, but a tip of the helmet to the folks we met in cagers today. They didn't know exactly what was going on, but almost without exception would pull over and stop as the group motored by, and I took this as a sign of respect. On behalf of everyone, thank you. We're out of town now and up to speed, having lost our police escort at the last intersection in Hartford City. This is one of my favorite photos on the day. These folks didn't know me, but had enough trust to let me slide up beside them and grab a quick photo. I'm shooting blind on these, just aiming the camera in the right direction and hoping for the best, all the while trying to maintain lane position and speed. In the wind. It's the best place to be. ...are Bhuff and his mighty MV Agusta Suzuki M109R. Brian and I are buds and we horsed around a bit on this part of the ride, including a couple of inpromptu roll-on contests. His Suzy won each one, well, going away. The word "smoked" comes to mind... (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 27, 2009) |

It's cold, it's threatening, but it's dry and we're rollin.' At this point I'm not sure where we're headed, but it feels good just to be riding. It feels good to be alive. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 27, 2009) |

It feels good to do good. And you guys are some of the best at it! Thanks for sharing the story and pictures. It's obvious that Cindy has a lot of people that love and support her. It's a shame when a disease ravishes a body and doesn't allow you to enjoy life the way you have in the past. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cindy and Ernie along with their many friends and family members. |

Great ride report, Jerry! Good to see that, umm..., some of you wear full face helmets. |

Reindog, You know in Indiana typically they would have been pointing and saying, "Who are those guys with helmets on?" But it was unseasonably cool and by the end of the ride most of them were wishing they had one too. Ulywife, Jerry's thread here has uplifted a lot of folks in Hartford City who have been watching it being posted. One of those folks is Cindy. She feels the love and appreciates it more than words can say. Thanks all, JB2 |

Hi, Cindy! I am glad to see you Badwebbing with us and that you have so many great friends. You have brightened the already bright Southern California sky all the way from Indiana. Thank you. -Tom Reiner, Carlsbad, CA (Message edited by reindog on August 27, 2009) |

Not enough photos of Happy Puppy Ferris. He was last seen hiding behind his full face helmet teaching them thar Hoosiers that a face sliding on a flat road still ouches. Way to go everyone! Great story. A long, long time ago, I was a neighbor in Southwestern Ohio so I love seeing Indiana. Jerry, are you going to submit a word wrangled wrapup? The next stop was the Sidekicks Bar and Grill in La Fontaine, owned by Rick Tucker, an old friend of JB2's and one of the Cindy's Ride organizers. Happenin' place, in a town otherwise quiet and still - "downtown" La Fontaine is all of about a block long. Rick said his neighbors weren't, at first, particularly keen on having a "biker bar" in their sleepy little burg (pop. 868), but he's done a great job of bringing an old, abandoned building (in an old, nearly-abandoned town) back to life. His clientele has been cool and respectful (as us bikers always are, right?), and a booming business means employment opportunities for the locals, and tax revenue for the town, that otherwise didn't exist. La Fontaine has another bar and grill, nearly next door to Sidekicks. It appeared to be closed up tight. These next few photos are by JB2. This is a shot of me 'n a couple of other fellers making fun of Bhuff's MV Suzuki. Not really. As so often happens these days, there's so many nice Harleys on the road that it's hard to see the tree for the forest. In this case, a couple of Harley riders have stopped to admire Brian's Suzuki. In fact, there were quite a few Japanese bikes involved in Cindy's Ride, and near as I could tell their riders were as welcomed and respected as anyone else, and not once did I sniff any 'tude because there were "ricers" in the mix. Which, of course, is as it should be. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 28, 2009) |

Everyone in the world claims this as "their" salute. Make of it what you will. Me, I think we're tellin' JB2 he's #1111. :-) L to r: Shannan Smith, Bob McLain, Brian Huffman and Happy Puppy Ferris. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 28, 2009) |

Here's Rob Nuckols, aka Nuck, showing JB2 some love. Nuck is JB2 and Kim's long-time next door neighbor, and, by their accounts, is a prince of a guy. Nuck was one of the principal ride organizers today, and he did a great job. I didn't get to hang with Nuck long, but I could tell - and I think you can see it in the photos - that he's the life of the party. He ain't bashful, that's for sure. Seems EVERYONE had some love to share with JB2 today. Here's Rob Bragg and Chad Smith flying the flag inside Sidekicks. I didn't know it yet, but tomorrow early I'd be riding to Indianapolis with my new friend Rob, to break bread with a celebrity... (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 28, 2009) |

It was time to roll again; Cindy's Ride continues. Me 'n JB2 and another feller left ahead of the group, to control a country intersection several miles out, and so that JB2 could set up and grab some photos of the riders as they approached. That's JB2 on the Victory Vegas directly ahead. Vegas Rules. :-) (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 29, 2009) |

JB2 does a good job of keepin' up with what's going on in his mirrors, and when he saw me snapping pix, he decided to share some of the love he'd been given back in La Fontaine. The shot's a little blurry (and by this time, so was I), but if ya squint just right you'll note The Finger. Or maybe he was just checking the wind direction... photo by JB2 Here's the group, about a mile strong, and makin' the most wonderful noise. The Sound of Music, Hoosier style. That's Rick Tucker comin' up on your right, and Nuck on your left. And behind them are over a hundred of the coolest people you'd ever want to meet. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on August 29, 2009) |
