I got hooked on my way back from homecoming, so I'm planning to go back into Arkansas within the next few weeks. I'll bring a tent and just stop at camping sites to save money, but also because it would be a shame to sleep isolated from all of this natural beauty outside. I've got the general idea planned out here: http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner /road.jsp?roadId=234481&locale=en_US I'll try to take a friday off, or wait for a three day weekend so I can split the trip up into 3 separate days of roughly 300 miles each. That should allow for more than enough time to stop at lots of attractions along the way and not be rushed to just ride straight through it all. Anyone here familiar with any of the areas I'll be visiting? Any suggestions or specific sites to see? I plan on stopping the first night near Jessieville, AR at the Iron Springs campground, then the second night at hide-a-way campground in Rogers, AR. (Message edited by pkforbes87 on June 19, 2009) |

Phillip- Have you made it to Arkansas yet? We just got back from the Eureka Springs area a litttle over a week ago. My son works a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule so we went down during the week. There are so many good roads around that area to write them all down. Coming from the land of 11 turns in 318 miles we are in heaven down there. Also found a pretty nice back road down through Missouri to break up the boredom since he was up for 25 hours by the time we called it a night the first day. |

Haven't made it back to Arkansas yet. I've got plans to go with another badweb member (Petethekiller) to the Bikes Blues & BBQ event later this summer. It's in Fayetteville instead of Eureka Springs IIRC, but there are lots of roads in the area that are great for scenery and riding. Erick, props to you for setting out on a ride of that distance! I'm sure it was a great way to get to know your new bike - which is a real beauty by the way! I hope to get out to the Deal's Gap area within the next few years. I have considered waiting until I can take 2-3 weeks off at once and planning the trip around one of the Buell group events in that area of the country. |

Sweet.. going home for my little sister's wedding this weekend so I've got a perfect chance to go through Eureka Springs again. I'd like to make a two day trip of it, camping somewhere southwest of Eureka Springs and riding HWY 62 early Saturday AM. That should keep things more interesting than just one 500 mile day spent on the slab. Nothing is set in stone yet.. I don't like planning very far in advance. |
