Theres a reason she's an ex. I don't know if it makes it better or worse, but this is my current GF, not ex that said it. |

Well...it's not a great start but.... I first posted my weight at zero two weeks ago today. My scales tell me that I now stand at -2.4kg(5.3lb). If I can keep that up, it should take about 12 more weeks to reach goal weight and feel a whole lot less, and whole lot happier with myself again! |

I'm in for 2009. It doesn't look like I'll be making to the trip to MBVI due to work constraints, financial contraints and my wife's desire to take a 'real' vacation this year means I need to budget my vacation time. The positive aspect is that I'll be going to North Carolina where I can sneak away to mountain bike some... I know I'm three weeks late. In October I was diagnosed as being Diabetic so I started out at 320.0. Before Christmas, I had dropped to 307.0. I have been doing lots of cardio and lifting. I've been doing a 2 on, 1 off lifting schedule. I see real gains and I'm using the same whey protein Wolf is using, but I make it in a skim milk/bannanna and blueberry shake for the potassium (severe leg cramps at night), protein, calcium (impact excersises and strength training helps built bone density), and the anti-oxidants. I'm in the market to purchase a new mountain bike. I used to ride extensively when I was a teenager and it tapered off when I found cars and motorcycles. I was able to keep my weight in check and it's fun exercise so... I'm afraid to look at the scale after Christmas, etc, but I'll weigh in tonight. |

Well..according to my scale... 318 since/over the holidays. No excuses other than poor willpower. I'll be back at the gym tommorrow trying to get back into the swing of it. It's disturbingly easy to sucked back into old habits. |

Hey Thumper, Nutrisystem does have a plan specifically for diabetics. |

I'm starting to feel pressure of another sort, now. My wife is trying for a full marathon (a life goal of hers) in March, so she is running running all the time right now. She keeps getting finer and finer and now I feel like I need to shape up too. Don't want to be the marathoner's fat husband!

I'm familiar with it, but it's just not in the budget right now. We're trying to take care of revolving debt because my wife's job is talking about a 25% pay cut which doesn't bode well for us. One of my concerns is that with the rapid weightloss of the Nutrisystem is the loss of muscle mass. Lifting weights is a huge boost in feeling... Except when I do legs. Then I can barely walk for two days. (Message edited by Thumper74 on January 21, 2009) (Message edited by Thumper74 on January 21, 2009) |

1/26 back up a little 236. Must be that eating thing again. I have been working on the Gazelle unit every other day for the past week or two. It is starting to tune up some long over-rested muscle tone. This could take a while. |

Ok, I'm going to join in here. We post every week, or what? My goal is 190 by the end of April. I'm currently at 220, so that's 30 pounds in three months, or ten pounds a month, 2.5 pounds a week or so. I think that's do-able, and making it a public affair will help me, I think. I went running last night, and will run three times a week. I'm looking to get a home gym, and will be doing that three times a week. I'm going to read back through the thread, but right off the bat, what systems are most effective for you folks? I was doing some research last night, and came across the Body For Life system from Bill Phillips. It seemed like a good idea. I need some sort of structure... 1/27/09 - 220lbs |

1/05/09 245 1/13/09 243 1/19/09 242.5 1/27/09 243 GRRRR! I think quantities are the problem at this point. It's easy to convince yourself you're not eating that much, when actually you are. Time to buckle down! Hoo-ah! BTW, I remembered where I found most of the information that made me successful when I dropped major weight a few years back (and I've kept most of it off.) Men's Health published a book a few years ago called "The Abs Diet". Though I hardly have a 6-pack, of all the books I've read or looked over, this one has the simplest, easiest to follow, and most sound advice about nutrition and weight loss. Their website makes it look over-marketed, but go to a bookstore and flip through the book. It's great and it works (and it's easy). |
