I'm gonna spend two weeks riding and camping in the Colorado Rockies next summer. I figure around late August time frame. I'll ride up from TX or over from NY, depending on where I am at the time. If you haven't tried living/camping off your bike for a week or two, well, ya just gotta try it. It'll cleanse your soul and rejuvinate your spirit. Post your brainstorming ideas for a get-together here. |

This sounds interesting. Anyone have a spare bike they might like to rent to a foreigner? I was planning on doing the same thing from the west coast of France/Spain and riding the mountains around to Greece, but I've seen a fair bit of it already. I've never been to the States though. PPiA |

First thing's first, let's figure out a date. It may be easier to go by what dates not to go by. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day...basically any of the big holidays. There's obviously plenty of bad thoughts about homecoming being on a major holiday (heck, it's the reason I won't be going to homecoming this year). Winter Bad (duh). So it's real easy to narrow this thing down to sometime between May and August sans the holidays. Someone want to take the reigns and set a date? I guarantee you that no date is going to be liked by everyone. Vik |

Well, late August will be hot but most likely dry, and may accomodate those people doing the Homecoming thing. June is nice, early enough in the summer still, but not quite the major tourist season. |

Take a look at my 2001 riding calendar on my website http://caferacers.editthispage.com I have most of the major events that are happening next year. Just pick a date that doesn't fall on one of those. Jim X-2.5 |

My personal preference would be early summer, maybe a couple weeks on either side of memorial day. Those of us coming across any of the badlands from the southwest will be less scorched by the time we get there at that time. August would be brutal, but I'd do it. Al |

ELF-FEST 2001 Please try to get ideas, dates, etc posted in the next week. We need a committee of folks to help plan this. We'll try to drill down the details and have a place and a date a week from today. This work ? Court |

Pikes Peak AMA Superbike in Colorado Springs is the 3rd weekend in August. If that weekend was chosen, it would coincide with a racing weekend, and the likelihood of more Buellers showing up. Some people could leave from there to go to Wisconsin the next weekend for the Homecoming, August 29th. I'd be up for a ride to Colorado in August. Sleep out under the stars for a few nights, and enjoy the hills during the day. No rain, no crowds, of lots of buelligan activites. Jim X-2.5 |

ASBN participants. We could set up a ride to Colorado from the Bay area. It could make quite a sport/tour trip. The Pikes Peak area is fantastic. I love the area. We have to take the Cog Train to the top of the Peak. 14,000 feet. Great little donuts at the top. We could take a couple of days to get there. A couple of days there, and a couple of days back. Hopefully I can have my hard bags mounted by then. Can't afford to do this and the homecoming though. For homecoming I might have to use one of my frequent flyer mile tickets, and go there on a show string. Sleep on the lawn at the factory, eat at the dealers, and share rental cars with others. Who knows, I may win the lottery, and do both. Although I can't miss the Land Speed Record this year, I had too much fun last year. Another great ride for us to put together from the Bay area. REX |

Rex, Let's bring it up at ASBN next month. I think it would make a great group ride. Maybe we could even convince Woz to bring the breadtruck as an emergency vehicle, and gear carrier. I'd pay the gas for that. Between a couple of extra bikes from Woz, and Jack and Aaron, we could satisfy the needs of anyone flying in from distant shores. Sounds like the ride of the summer. Paul: Specifics please . . . we're trying to get the committee in place and hammer down dates. Post your rough schedule with arrival dates and events you are already committed to. We'll try to get the dates in place during the next week. Court |

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone. I hope your Holiday was great, and that the months to come contain riding weather so you can get out on the road on that Buell of yours. Right now, I'm constructing my 2001 schedule and I've booked Indianapolis for the Dealer Expo (if there's a way that you can get the credentials to make this show, you should try and do it. It's for dealers, suppliers and such and it's really enlightening) on February 17-20. I'll be in Daytona for Bike Week in March, and I'm planning on a road trip through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado to end up in Boise Idaho the weekend of 24-27 May. That's the Memorial Day weekend, but the weekend prior to that, May 18-20 I can be in Colorado. When is Bonneville 2001? There are dates in July, August, September and October, but have they been posted yet? Which months are Team Elves going to be committed to Bonneville? I'm willing and ready to drive the BreadTruck to Colorado as Jim Armstrong has suggested. No problem there, and I can haul gear for many from the "Left" coast if needed. I'm definitely interested in helping out, and I'm ready to commit. I'll be watching this Stormfront. See you soon, Woz... |

Woz: I'm not aware of any July Bonneville events. August 11-17 is Speedweek, September 21-24 is World of Speed, October 17-20 is World Finals, according to the SCTA Web site. I'm thinking same plan ... WOS is a must, World Finals as a backup. Speedweek? I don't know. Awfully hot out there in August, 375 entrants=lines. What do you think? AW |
