henrik, it was great to finally meet you and as far as bike issues go while out riding, my 83 fxrt got to a point that everytime we went out riding that i was holding up the ride cause something would happen(everyone else had their evos) but it was always nice to know that no one complained and would just try and figure out what the problem was and get back on the road. it's nice to be around great people and i look forward to the day that i can get the 83 restored and just show it off.

Here's the pic of Ed's new bike. No outrunning him now! I think that he's about ready for another trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Ed,

Awesome ride brother. I just got one question... Where are the .50 caliber machine guns with QuikPoint lasers? I know if you don't have them yet you will soon! : )

Thanks for all the kind words guys. You may be right that I was fretting more about the breakdown than anyone else : )

You're certainly correct, that I couldn't have planned a more convenient mechanical : D

But still: Thank You All.

Neil; Great meeting you too. '83 FXRT - that brings back memories. My first HD was an '82 FXR. I *loved* that bike. Unfortunately I fell into "improving" things, which finally led to all kinds of electrical gremlins. It got to a point where I carried pre-made pigtails of the sections of ignition wiring that would break regularly - stop, swap - back on the road. But I still miss that bike. First year of the *real* rubber mounted FXR, Shovelhead engine and still chain drive. That bike taught me a lot about maintenance and wrenching - and bringing lots of tools, even on short trips ; )

Lots of good memories on that bike. I hope you get yours back on the road soon. Too nice a bike to just keep it parked.

Nice bike Ed. Is that the new Kawi 12 or 1400 cc rocketship (I forget the name)??

Kawasaki Concours 14:

Ed, any truth to the rumor that you have to contact NASA for launch clearance any time you fire it up??? ;--)

My first HD was an '82 FXR.

my third Harley was an '86 FXR-P, a gently used former Seattle Police bike, which over several years i transformed into a pretty beachin' custom and chrome Low Rider.

nice bike, really sold me on the concept of rubber mounting the engine, handled sweet, and the Evo motor was a dream.

like every other scoot i've ever owned, i wish i still had it... :-(

Wow, a Kawi Luxo-Loungi-Barge ; )

Just kidding. That bike won best Sport Touring Bike in the latest Cycle World. Nice choice - everything electrified, motorized, stylized - a regular Greased Lightning : D

Congratulations. Many happy (s)miles.

Henrik, Yup Shes a bigun. About the same weight as the Superglide with more torque and twice the ponies.Still working on the suspension setup, lots of adjustment and plenty stiff.
Tracts well with smooth power. More like a VFR than a touring bike.
Ferris, I'm sure I can find a way to hold you partially responsible for this one too. You and Bugs annoying buzz over my right shoulder. A few more miles before we contact NASA for ignition. I bet you know someone who could loan me a blue Aerostich for shits and grins.
Jim, I'm thinking the ram air pockets and 4 servos.
Reep, Hopefully the keys the only thing I drop.

Hey Rich,You still down in the Sunshine state riden those twins?
For those who dont know many years ago in a land far away a man at PACBOG thought the just introduced Buell M2 would be the bike to seduce a man away from his longtime "since 1983" VFR fix. Ferris was right I only kept the bike for a decade. but Im still riding with the fold it brought me into. Great ride, Better people.

Nice scooter Ed,

Ferris's Fault II ?, I don't know that back story i will bet that its a good one.

Ferris you realize that you are the "man of responcibility"

When in doubt blame Ferris

um, is that anything like being a moral compass? if so, it WILL be my fault. :-)

coffee install will commence once i have an appropriate tap for the other saddlebag. seems a shame to "only" be able to offer hot coffee to y'all, so the other bag will carry (and dispense) the cold beer.

now, if i can only figure out where to install the humidor for the ceegars, we'll be all set... :-)

YO JB2!!! where's yer pix from the weekend, dood???

YO FERRIS!!!

Well I've been trying to remodel this old house and I have something in the works that all of the ride attendees will be soon be receiving. I shot everything at high resolution and I am currently lacking almost all of my editing programs on this new 'puter until #1 son visits here to get them all installed and running properly. THEN, I had this big guy from North Carolina show and stay for a coupla days. : ) BUT, Mikey and I DID get your gift to Dick Winger delivered and checked out the new pieces in his collection that includes a 1902 Orient and a 1896 steam powered motorcycle. Yes I will post some pictures soon but it won't be for a few days. I hope my excuses will earn me a little grace. Think? : )

Could you imagine me going back to my super secret source at church and asking about a "beer tap?"

my sordid reputation would surely be ruined.

Ferris you like Sam Adams?

I almost have the KLR-250 back together. Got a parts bike, completely took it apart (its amazing how much they shrink into 4 big pieces and two boxes of "stuff"), and combined the parts that work. Mostly. Hopefully.

Next year we need to break it in some more interesting way, perhaps involving Mike Breedlove's front yard.

I think with a good running start, you could easily have cleared Court's truck, and probably survived with only minor broken bones.

Ferris was limber enough that night that I don't think he would have broken any bones. We'll have to make sure we get s'more of that white lightin' next time before we stick him on the KLR. ; )

Good policy Kristi!

We just spent 3 hours yesterday in the Childrens Hospital Orthopedic clinic with my 10 year old... fell out of a tree and ended up with two minor cracks in growth plates. Not a big deal unless he was to fall on them again and really break something... so he got a cool orange fiberglass cast out of it.

Nobody can just slap a cast on anymore... it has to be 3 visits to specialists. They just poke it, and say "does it hurt", and then slap a cast on any place where the answer is "yes".

Our first 3 family vacations with Ben (our first) involved ER visits. Did you know the forms there have a check-box for "Various Fish Injuries"?

Thanks for the well wishes!

He's doing great... he was annoyed by the whole thing more then anything. It makes it frustrating for him to use the computer and build bionicals. The pain was never *that* bad, and he has a high pain threshold anyway.

We have 4 kids, 3 boys, all 2 years apart with the oldest 10. Our only surprise is that it took us 10 years before somebody (Dad included) broke something : )
