I live in Cairns, Population about 120K Cairns is located on the East coast in Far North Queensland, Australia. Our economy is based on Sugar & Mining, but by far the biggest earner is Tourism. We are a tourist city. Full on tropical climate, its mid winter here and it was a cold morning at 15 degrees C [59F] with a day time max of 25c [77f] and thats as cold as it gets. The country side around here is 'bike heaven. We have a choice of 4 routes up in to the tablelands in land from Cairns, The Coast road to Port douglas, 45 kms of twisting tar through world heritage rain forrest, The Rex Range, 2nd - 3rd gear bliss for 30 km, The Kuranda range 15kms of the best quality twisting tar you will find anywhere or the icing on the cake - The Gillies Hwy - 220 corners in 25 kms. If it doesn't give you arm pump, nothing will. all of these routes are within 20km of the central business district. If you hit them early on a Saturday or Sunday morning there is little traffic and few cops. I love living here |
