preface: sorry about the picture quality, but it took a ton of compression to reduce them. Had there actually been a tale, it would have been a completely fictionalized version of actual events.

Oh go ahead Turn; make something up. That intriguing inverted ramp on the porch would be a good place to start. Or is it one of those picture stories with the sad old tuber sitting ignored while you're out on that flashy new item? Nice pictures tale or not!! Thanks Rotzaruck!!!! |

Do you have a better pic of the S1 gas tank? I'm thinking there is something interesting there. Plus it looks like someone got booted to the front yard for a bit. I won't ask about the RocketCity image. The first pic looks Georgian, the second Appalachain (sp?), the third pic looks a bit British with a transplant, the train station in the 4th looks interesting. Mapquest.com tells me there are six Yorkshires in the U.S., VA, NY, OH, DE, IA, and PA. Did you do a loop and string them all together????? Make something up and tell us a tale, please. |

OK... So originally this would have been posted under the 'Where's Rocket' thread, but I couldn't find it -- it may have slipped into the administrative abyss. discretion, being the better part of valor, I just decided to post the untold story. But since y'all want a bit of fiction, here it is. It originally was going to be titled 'In Search of Rocketman' and would have gone like this: Anyone recall the TV show 'In Search Of' with Leonard Nimoy? Well, I recently went 'In Search Of Rocketman'. The journey started with a stop at the oldest place I could find to seek directions. From the mid 1700's, the Middlegate Complex and Cabell's Mill. With directions to Yorkshire, my journey continued. Along the way, I spotted an old S1 Lightning and thought that maybe I'd stumbled across Rocket's place. As luck would have it, it was not to be. One note about the bike, the tank has painted on it '98.7 WMZQ -- Washington's Country Station' (must have been a prize winning -- I hope). While taking a shot, a women came out of the house to inquire why I was looking at her husband's bike. I explained I liked Buells and of my search for Rocket. She said 'Oh, you need to continue on to Yorkshire, just down the road'. With that, I was off. Found Yorkshire OK, but no Rocket there either. The folks in the black SUV said 'Yes, we know of this Rocket and that you'd probably find him at the Manassas train depot'. They went on to say, 'that's where the old hippies hang out'. Found Manassas and the old train depot. You might recall the depot from the Stephen Stills/Manassas album, alas the old hippie reference. As you'd expect, no Rocket in Manassas either. While there, I was told if one seeks Rocket, you've got to go to Rocket City and that's where you'll find shite to shoot off and stuff to blow crap up with. So after a long ride into the night: Of course, no Rocket, just a plaque on the wall, which read, 'An Irish Prayer', that I thought might apply to his dislike of the 1125R. It goes: "An Irish Prayer" May those who love us - love us and those who don't love us - may God turn their hearts and if He doesn't turn their hearts - may He turn their ankle so we'll know them by their limping. Rocket, if you're reading this, it's all in good fun and you're like a brother....cousin... ok, distant cousin.

Mike, another view of the old S1 with some tools at the ready. I saw it sitting in the same spot a week ago and could envision it sitting there through rain, sleet & snow.
a closer look at the tank with the country music station emblazoned upon it -- must have been a prize.
They say the South begins at the Mason/Dixon line, but I believe it starts here.
