Great job showing us this unique piece of history. Looking at the patina grown over years of use, that thing looks like a priceless WWII airplane. So cool. |

the title of this thread doesn't do the rest of it justice reep. from your beginning, to the pics and then when you read the other story about his life and what the man's overcome, this is truly a great thread. you did good. makes me wish i was able to go to my moms for xmas. she lives maybe a mile from the museum just south of there. |

Alex, Reep will be at our Memorial Day get together as well as Ferris. I invited Dave but he couldn't commit. Maybe Ferris could work some of that magic on him. Hell, he's talked him into signing up on Adventure Rider so anything could happen. JB2 |

Reep, Thursday the 22nd: Brian and I are leaving around 2:00 pm and will arrive around midnight. Friday the 23rd: We'll prep the location with a new post and leave the cross in the brush for the next day. The rest of the day will be spent riding and starting the feast for Saturday. Saturday the 24th: Some local riding and preparing for the gathering that evening. We'll set the cross sometime in the mid to late afternoon. Depending on when riders plan on showing. Saturday evening will be a gathering the at Mikey's with Lou Usher providing entertainment and good food will be a plenty. Sunday the 25th: Open riding. Prolly groups of around 5 bikes each. Tons of options on routes which we can discuss at the party. Monday the 26th: Heading home. You can join us at any point that's good for you. Can't wait. |

Hmmm.... I'm guessing I will appear late afternoon on Friday. My preference would be to ride up on the 9sx... but if somebody wants or needs a KLR-250 (which might be a lot of fun around there, probably some nice dual sport rides) I can probably scare up a trailer and bring both bikes. Any spouses signed up to come along? |

Back on topic, two books just showed up today (autographed) from one Mr. Dave Barr! I scanned one... and can hardly wait to settle down and start reading!!! |

I just finished the first chapter of "Riding the Edge", and I am speechless. I am just sitting here, my jaw in my lap. The writing style is as plain and simple as it could be (a good thing). The story it tells makes me see God, through a man made in God's image, living the adventure God built him to live. I don't know what to say, besides thanks. Thanks to Dave Barr, for being what God wanted him to be, in spite of just about every obstacle imaginable. And thanks to Jim Bantz, for once again inviting me into an adventure. |

Reep, We hit it off at BRATPAC II. You may not know it but I became a fan of yours then. Since we'd been trying to hook up and I knew you had a surprise for me it only seemed appropriate to invite you and return a surprise. I had that sneaking suspicion that you'd not only like Dave but would admire him for his accomplishments. It was, to say the least, a great joy to watch you get to know him during our brief visit. If the phone call I received from him was any indication he was grateful to have met you too. Life's to short to not be seeking out adventure. Glad I could be a part of yours. JB2 |

P.S. Regarding the spouses... I think a few are coming. Denise is coming with Ferris. Kim may drive down Friday(no guarantees). It's open to them for sure. Dunno about needing an extra bike but Gentleman Jim is flying in and will be in a rental car(yuk) so... Okay, back to topic! Dave rocks! JB2 |

While Jim is more then welcome to it, I don't know that the term "Gentelman" and "KLR-250" can be used in the same sentence with a straight face. That'd be a LOOONNNNGGGG step down from a FJR |

A KLR-250 is not far off from the DR-400 in my stable,so I will take you up on the offer, but only if I can bring the Captian and the motel is on me. Let me know. Jim A |

I've got a nice three rail trailer that's light and pulls well. Only problem it's in my driveway and not yours. Meet halfway sometime in early May? Jim said he's bringin' the Captain? (Message edited by jb2 on January 13, 2008) |

Oldog, Maybe close but not quite. If we were traveling the length of the BRP then we could name it that. Maybe in a coupla years we'll do that combined with a ride event that Ferris and I have loosely talked about. It looks as though everyone from BRATPAC II will be there... JB2 |

I think I have a line on a couple trailers locally... so let me try those first. That answers another delimma for me as well. The bike came from the previous owner with a pretty nice set of 80% street 20% dirt tires... and I want the opposite. I'll get some nasty knobbies, put them on for playing in the winter, and them put back the street oriented rubber for the "Ride with JB1" get together. |
