2007 Finals at Laguna...Cool and Casual..!! As unlike the MotoGp circus as you can get , the AMA finals at Laguna Seca were a breath of fresh air. Just a smattering of fans , Weather as perfect as can be ,with Motorcycles battling frenetically , we had a very exciting yet relaxing time of it. In attendance were Jerry Johnson , his friend Kathryn , Al and I...with a few friends visiting us at the Corkscrew View site.We got in Friday Morning , and after a great ride over Carmel Valley and Cachagua road , Jerry ,Kathryn and I watched the sunset in Pacific Grove and after a cruise through Monterey we headed back to the track for Dinner. Now for a Pictorial Break..........
In attendance were numerous vintage Ducs..
...And a couple more..... (Aaron Yates and Jamie Hacking)
......."Al in Orange".......
In my best English accent.. ....."Cati Chrome...Eh?).....
"Feelin' Devilish?" (.....Yes , I know the answer!.....)
A lotta' young ones.......(lol)
Cute ones too!
OK , Court.....you knew I couldn't resist! .......DUCKS in a ROW.......
What else can I say..?????We Love California!! (Message edited by ebear on September 21, 2007) |

Friends Indeed... wow EBear, it's very cool to see our "brick" again! great photos, very odd to see Laguna so devoid of teeming masses, must make watching the races there an entirely different (and more enjoyable?) experience. btw: GREAT PIX! FB&D |

Much more , indeed..! I'd forgotten what the old days were like....before World Superbike it was always easier to get around....though this was particularily quiet. And THANKS for the comments guys!

Awesome photos Eric! Really makes me want to check out the race circuit. My son was at VIR for the race there a few weeks ago, but his pictures don't look anything like yours. What kind of camera and lens are you using to get such clear action photos of the racers on the track? Paul |

Howdy Paul !.....Thank You for the compliment! Laguna Definitely has it's charm. The first time I ever went there was with my Dad whom raced Alfa Spyders there for a few years .It was in the mid 60's and I used to sit on a tree at the top of the corkscrew and take picture as the sports cars would come out of the fog and drop down into the corkscrew , parking lights blazing ,totally scared out of their minds cause they were fog blind..The Can-Am races there in the 60's and 70's were especially memorable. When they'd come under the car bridge up to turn 6 , downshifting ,the entire bridge would oscillate up and down several inches(felt like several feet to a 10 year old!)and would shudder with the incredible sound wave emanating from those Monster V-8s.Absolutly the best racing EVER! So , to the point....I use a Canon 5D , 300 2.8 Canon IS lens with a 1.4 convertor for most of those.I use a Canon 600 4.5 and a 800 5.6 on occasion , however Laguna is'nt the best locale for hauling around big glass being that it's all hills and walking.!Vir is one of the few AMA tracks I haven't had the chance to check out.Looks quite beautiful there ! Is it Photo friendly? |
