Some friends and I decided to go to the 60th anniversary of the Hollister Independence Day Rally this past weekend. We went last Saturday July 7th for our mini adventure. We left Santa Maria around 8am and headed up the 101 to Atascadero where we stopped for breakfast then up to San Miguel where the ride really started. We jutted off on Indian Valley/Peachtree Rd which is a nice 1 3/4 lane road for about 30 miles.
When Peachtree Rd crosses Hwy 198 you jog west a few hundred yards and pick up Hwy 25. This is a real nice stretch of road that is seldom patrolled and you can just wind it out for miles if you so choose. I was in no hurry with my friends on their Fat Boy so I just cruised and took in the scenery. Hollister was packed, but not as bad as I remember it two years ago. If you wanted a tee shirt this was the place to come to, but I was disappointed in the lack of hard part dealers.

This is just one minor side street of Motorcycles parked.
Even found another Buell.

Rode up and took the tour in the Corbin seat factory, then grabbed some gas for the ride home. When we had first turned on Hwy 25 i the morning I saw a sign that I had to make a mental note to stop at on the way back.
A little extra signage that I had picked up earlier in the afternoon seemed appropriate.
Good weather, great roads, all in all a fine day. |
