Left school last night . . . late . . . about 10:30 by the time I escaped. . . Walking through the campus . . . I'm digging the scenery . .
. . . decided to take the 5 minute hop-skip-jump to the Apollo and lo and behold . . . it was Rockin'. Tour buses lined up, Super Fly tricked out S600's and the joint was jumpin. Anyway . . for those of you who miss the opportunity to grab a cup-o'-joe in Harlem. . . .
On down the road a guy had planted a Toyota, obviously at a great rate of speed, into the yellow sand-filled barrels of the 34th Street exit. . . I wasn't quick enough to shoot the carnage, but decided, feeling a bit mellow, to take the back streets of Brooklyn home. . . . Henrik will know these streets well . .
Finally . . easing on home and shot this on the street leading to the house. . . those of you who have seen the movie "School of Rock" have already seen it . . .
Very cool day yesterday was . . . very cool. |

CJ . . . that's hilarious! I didn't think of that while I was penmanshipping. . . and even in his "post pony-tail" days . . . The Great Dane is cute as a bug! If you need more pictures . . . I spent a good portion of yesterday wandering the city shooting some fun architectural features. . .
How cool is that detail?
A closer look . .
Jonah we miss you. .
I just thought this was cool
A closer look . .dig that BLUE tile
More Blue Tile. .
Passing Lincoln Center. . }
Raced this guy for a couple blocks. .
Near Carnegie Hall I caught this cool reflection. .
Museums EVERYWHERE. .
I looked up and thought this 75' tall gal was coming in the window. .
The Firehouse across from campus. .
The Famed "Gates". .
They'd started eating without me. .
Last week was "SEX TOYS" week on campus. . many of the signs remain. .
And as I headed straight to my spot in the basement, where I spent 20 hours last week . . looked up and thought this was cool! It's a fun city . . . I just snap pics as I go about my business. . . |

Frankly, I just wasn't really sure where to put this. Apparently the driver was on a cell phone ordering a turbo for his Bonneville bike. . . . go figure And . . . just when you think this is a dandy you read about the guy in Staten Island who holding "Turkey Shoots" using Roman candles. Take me at my word here . . . it'll take a lot more than that to make news in Staten Island.

Ya gotta love New York City! I recall, when I lived on the beach in Marina del Rey, how fabulous the sunsets were. Now. . . I get the treat at the beginning of the day. Shot from the bedroom window about 2 minutes ago. . .

Nice shots Court, makes me remember why I enjoy getting into a city every once in a while. But you have to be careful if you're a country bumpkin. I was walking down the street in Portland, ME last year and noticed one of the street people. It was so sad, tattered clothing, bag full of belongings. I wanted to do something and without thinking about it I reached out to them. It was just so sad. And look at my reward... > > > > >
I don't think it was bad person, I just caught them off guard... < < < <

That's awesome . . I'll be in Oyster Bay tomorrow. Never been there, eager to see. Thanks for adding to the pics . . . NYC is a fabulous place! Court P.S. - I am sitting here, across from Buell Hall, studying and outside in front of the library they have a giant glass box. You can step in and a huge attached fan blows the case laying in the glass box around. You win a chase to step in and you can keep all the money you can grab out of the air. I may have to go down to my car and snag the camera. . . . as they prepare Ivy Leaugettes for the real "world" |

Man Jumps to Death From Empire State Building Office NEW YORK (AP) -- A man jumped out the window of a law office on the 69th floor of the Empire State Building on Friday and fell to his death, police said. Police responded to the midtown Manhattan landmark at about 2:50 p.m. after a 911 caller reported seeing a leg on 33rd Street. After closing the street between 5th and 6th Avenues, they discovered that the body had landed on a setback on the 30th floor. The name of victim, a lawyer in his 30s, was not immediately released. Detectives on the street were photographing the leg, which was severed below the knee with the foot still covered in a dark gray sock. In February 2006, a 21-year-old New York man jumped to his death after buying a ticket to its observation deck. Dovid Abramowitz jumped from a vacant office on the 66th floor of the 102-story building. More than 30 people have committed suicide at the Empire State Building since it opened in 1931. The skyscraper reaches 1,454 feet to the top of its lightning rod. |

Yikes . . .nearly bit me in the ass today that we'd recently hosted a Buell V.I.P. in Gotham. Of course, I was busy shooting pictures and hadn't taken the time to convert them from RAW and make any sense out of them . . I'm not sure they make much sense now . . . but Josh and I had a BLAST!
I started easy on him . . . I figured Buell Hall would make him feel at home and at ease
I showed Josh around campus where I've been spending most my time lately
Now it was time for URBAN IMMERSION . . and we headed for Harlem
We weren't sure exactly what this guy had done but his path was blocked with a NYPD car at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and 125th . . . not a great place to tease the cops
We both spotted this building lit by the afternoon sun . . .cool stuff
We passed on the soul food but I'll bet it and the Southern Fried Chicken would stick to your ribs
It was Show Time at the Apollo
If you are from my native Kansas . . you can pretty much forget most of what you've been told about Harlem
Some of the facades on these buildings are incredible.
This was the high rolling neighborhood on the North end of Central Park and will be again soon . . .
I shoot several pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge a day and can't get enough. . . I treated Josh to my camera out the window routine that turned my wife and the NYPD Anti-Terrorism Squad into speaking friends
I just liked the shot
Brooklyn Heights is like a movie set . . .always a great place to take an hour or two and just stroll the streets
Just another shot I liked . .
And another . . . these flowers go along the Promenade overlooking the Manhattan skyline
Cool Josh-O-Pic. . we had a gorgeous day I've got about 6 dozen more . . . it **IS** an amazing town. HENRIK - WE FINISHED YOUR WINE! |

A few more from this morning and you would not begin to believe the security I saw this morning on the way in . . . helicopters hovering on either side of the bridge, troops (lots of 'em) at the tunnel entrance and legions of cops standing in the streets looking in cars . . .I'm guessing this is due to Fleet Week and the parade of ships (see 1010WINS.com) coming in tomorrow.
Anyone want to take a guess??
Coolest part of the Brooklyn Bridge
Neat picture - neat door
These things are sprouting like flowers in the city
I wandered where they moved the Trapeze School. . . they put it on the 3rd floor roof . . . COOL!!
Pretty much goes unsaid with the parking lot closed for construction of the new stadiums when the Yankees are playing the Mets
I guess you could take some comfort in the fact that they'd keep coming back till they got it right. . . no very reassuring.
Good business to be in here . .
I just dig windows. . . what can I say?
Part of the reason I am seeing folks knocked off motorcycles each week. . . scary place.
This was awesome . . just a blanket layer of fog . . as I hit the bridge it was like driving in a cloud |
