Official birthdays for companies are a bit of mumbo jumbo anyways. Our saying this is 20 years of Buell is also. You could make a good case for 1984 or 1985, maybe even 1982. BTW, do you know what year H-D celebrated it's 50th anniversary? Not 1953 but 1954! |

Roger, the 100,000 was just thrown out there for comparison purposes. I have talked to a couple of folks at Harley & with the Milwaukee county sheriffs dept & they have been informed to expect roughly 750,000 people...thats not bikes thats just people. Anyone notice in Fuell that a week after the 20th Harley will have a Brag tent up at Buell along with ice cream, music & a free gift for Brag members? They dont give a rats ass about Buells birthday..they are more concerned about their own 100th & rightfully so. Dana, yea I know what you are saying about starting small, but seriously there will most likely be a shit load of harley riders already in town for the 100th & 100-200 Buell riders seriously wont catch 1 second worth of Harleys attention. Anyone ever look at the numbers $$$. HOG has 750,000 members at $50 a year, thats 37.5 million a year they pull down. How many Brag members are there? 5000? 10,000? I dont know but at 5000 members thats only $250,000...Harley makes that in about 10 minutes selling t-shirts. Its not worth their time $$$$ to promote it. |

along with ice cream, music & a free gift for Brag members? Ice Cream ???? Maybe I should just be a Harley girl, cause I want beer (that's right Spidey) like they have at Hal's bike show this weekend and other Harley events !!! LOL And anyway, what kind of music goes with Ice Cream ??? Scary thought !! CJM

Spidey, i would email P.Egan, he lives very close to east troy, and writes for CW, he also writes about experiences, not only bikes, i will see if i can get Chicago Motor sports to put it up, and i belive RRW would print it if they are called or emailed, there are a bunch of magazines out there, and no i have no contacts sorry Dave your correct about dates, that of course is really not the concern, i am more concerned about Corprate not knowing what we(not me, but you folks) are doing, no recognizing and not knowing are 2 different things(i understand they are busy, but to flat out not have a clue, just worries me) And Dyna, HD may not understand, and you may think they do not care, however that is far from true, belive me they care, they seek information, they want to learn, but guess what, they tire of the bitching, and you know it has gotten no-where, so what to do, keep bitching, not worth my time, i enjoy what i enjoy, i am not brand loyal, and i will continue to ride my bike, you need to think of it more like this, HOG did not start out with 100,000 people, HD has watched it grow, and has seen domestic sales stall(last quarter) this i think will be the year HD realizes that they NEED a new market, they are watching, and waiting, and guess what they are and will continue to listen, that is if it is done correctly, again you can choose to pass, but i think i will stick it out and see what happens should be interesting Roger |

I thought Egan lived northwest of Madison? And Spidey, of course Cycle worlds not interested. They produce a product for the mainstream motorcyclist. Buell is a small blip in overall bike sales & the main rags are gonna promote the big sellers..they always have & always will. I also dont think it helps matters theat Buell has 0 thats ZERO bikes for any magazines to test. No long term tests, no short term tests, no nothing. What do you suppose this is telling the magazines? Why give a writeup for a product you cant even get your hands on? Roger, yes HOG started out small but it had a potential membership of millions before it even started. Millions of Harleys have been produced so even if only a very tiny portion of thos joined up Harley would stand to make a bundle. Buell has sold what 40,000 or so bikes maybe even 50,000. So maybe 10% of Buell owners have decide Brag is worth something or have decided to join. Its all about the $$$$, its not about brand loyalty or giving back to the riders or even caring what the riders want or expect, its all about making $$$$. If Harley wasnt making a shitload of $$ from HOG it wouldnt be around. |

Erik knows we are coming! I've told several other "high ups" at HD/Buell about it as well as I'm sure others here have too. In my eyes this is more about Erik than the "company" anyway. I can't wait to see Erik's face when we all come riding in. Ride to the edge! Dave |

During my riding career, I've owned bikes from England, Italy, Japan, Germany and the U.S.A. Some I really hated, some I loved. But I've never had a motorcycle as emotionally rewarding as a Buell. I don't care if it's 20 years or 17 years or 20 minutes. I'm coming to Wisconsin this August to say thank you to Erik Buell for building the most enjoyable motorcycle I've ever owned. However, The RW750 was built 20 years ago. It sure sounds like a 20th Anniversary to me. |

Guys, Erik and everyone involved with buell knows we are coming. Not everyone at H-D knows, it is not like they have sent out a company wide annoucement. This was not supposed to be a big media event, just owners sayign THANKS. Besides we could have 1000 bike there and unless we all showed up naked it would not cause a ripple. The area is getting ready for 500000 bikes to show up the following week, we are not even a blip. BUT if you don't think that the Powers that be are aware of this gathering you seriously under estimate the folks at H-D. Not only are they aware of it they are trying hard to understand how to use this enthusiasm and dedication to help Buell grow. People who matter are paying attention. |

Crusty wrote: "I'm coming to Wisconsin this August to say thank you to Erik Buell for building the most enjoyable motorcycle I've ever owned. " Amen . . . .factory involvement or not, really doesn't matter to me . . . . I plan on having a great time, and meeting a lot of virtual friends so's I can attach faces to names . . . . One of the biggest benefits I've reaped since owning my M2 (besides just enjoying the heck outa the bike) is the great folks I've met . . .some have been through organized activities in which the factory was involved, some not . .. either way, folks should continue to tenjoy themselves, each other and their bikes . . . .if money appears in the form of factory support, great . .. if not, great . . . . . sounds awfully simplistic, I know, but I intend to continue to enjoy myself, and leave the worryin and arguing to others . . .. .sheesh, no wonder the factory quit takin us (many of the posters on this and other boards) seriously |

Newfie...Quick question for you. I have a BRAG, not a HOG, National Membership. Can I become a member of a local HOG Chapter with the BRAG National or do I have to get a HOG National as well? PS: Anyone else out there with the answer, please feel free to comment. Thanks, Bill (Message edited by Nevco1 on May 06, 2003) |

Bill, All I know is that I can't seem to subscribe or get access to HOG.com with my BRAG membership number. Seems they think my HOG membership expired when I didn't renew it because the BRAG membership is reciprocal. Can't get their attitudes to respond to emails either. I believe getting access to a local HOG Chapter will be up to the Chapter in question. I had a smartass comment to add but will leave it alone for now. Besides ThunderPress apparently doesn't feel the need to respond to me either. |

MikeJ...Thanks. Am going to the KMC HOG meeting tomorrow evening and will try and get signed up there. The reason being is that I participate as a guest in so many of their functions that I may as well become a card carrying member. If you want to try the West Bend Group, let me know. A friend is on the board there this year. |
