Ouch! Sounds like you ran into the same thing I did. I planned my trip months in advance and invested too much to turn back. I was able to get some riding in, not as much as I'd would have liked to, but enough. My buddy and I have already agreed to make a second trip this year so all isn't lost. Let us know how it turns out. |

Well, I have had the bike back for a few days, and after a little fumbling with the idle mixture and 400 miles on the road, it seems to be about perfect. So Deals Gap is likely next weekend or the one after. Part of it depends on my riding buddies getting kitchen passes. In the past I have only gone down there on long weekends and vacations. It takes me about 5 hours with the truck and trailer to get there (no, I do not like squaring my tires on the Interstate). If I decide that it is worth the trip for just the two day weekend, I will be doing it more often. |

Patrick, The GAP is much better during the week. Only exceptions are the semi's. While your there checkout Hellbender. Joe |

Granted, I would like to have the Gap all to myself. My vacation days are all spoken for. I might be going down the week of July 4th. I was there at that time two years ago and there were not many people. Of course there was a tropical storm, so I had to cut things short. |

Tim, I'm a little slow on the draw (you think!). I ended up getting the reckless driving reduced to a speeding ticket. $263 for the ticket and $550 for the attorney. Virginia is such a joy to travel through - I should've known better. Thanks for asking. Paul |

Change of plans. I am taking a long road-trip up the Maine (never been there) over the 4th of July week. My Gap trip is now planned for June 1-3. I have lost count of how many times I have re-schedules this trip. Being a responsible adult sucks. |

Paul You are lucky that they didn't shot you. That was done in the Richmond area a couple years back. I try to leave this state every time I ride. Joe |

Heading to the Dragon this weekend, weather permitting. 30% chance of rain on Saturday, but that is down from 60% a couple of days ago, and every time I check weather.com the chances of rain have gone down a little more. As long as it is not a constant downpour it will be fun. |

Well, last weekend did not happen. I am leaving tonight. Wish me luck. I have been watching the weather, and it looks promising. This will also be a dry-run for my longer Maine trip this July. |

Got home least night. Awesome trip! Crowds were light, and weather was perfect. Lost count of Dragon runs. Also took the loop through the Gap to the Cherohala and back up 360 to 411 and 72. I will be going again later this Summer. |
