"If you want some brew do it on your own time and away from the dealers and respective events."

I'm just guessing you haven't been to all too many Harley/H.O.G. events. If you want to see beer at the dealerships just come back or stick around until the week after. ;)

Just go to a Racine HOG meet. The dealership supplies the beer for free.

Hmmm Motorcycles & alcohol, yea those 2 go real well together.

Mike, you ever attend the Log cabin toy run that starts out in Burlington? I quit going because even tho its for a good cause, by the time the run is half over most of the riders are 3/4's in the bag. Its ridiculous, almost hitting each other, illegal passing, running red light, etc. 2 years ago the wife & I simply rode home after the 3 rd stop. I couldnt take anymore of the bullshit behaviour.

I love attending poker runs, but I dont drink at them. I will have a pepsi & the wife has lemonade. Not worth the DUI ticket, the crashed bike or the busted bones from an accident.

I looked up the dates again for the Harley 100th & they are aug 28th-31st. Im sure a lot of folks will be arriving the weekend before as well, so basically from the 23rd on I would expect a lot of bikes around here.Who all is planing on hanging around for the entire week? And for us locals, who all is actually planning on attending the Harley functions?

I definately 100% for sure will be.

Dyna...I will be providing stud service for all the attractive, size/weight proportionate and willing females at the 100th. Would not miss that action for anything. Then again finding those two women in that menagerie should be frustrating as all get out! LOL

BUT there will be no beer at any of these events.
A: That's true and non-negotiable.

Court did you get the E-mail I sent you?
A: No. If it didn't have a clear subject and an identificalbe address it would have been automatically deleted. Try something like "20th Buell Anniversay" in the subject.

Nope, never been on the log cabin run, don't do actual "run's" much. Did go on the one for the firefighters though, that was okay.

As far as the 100th goes, I'll probably do my usual and work during the day then wander through town in the early evenings. When the loons start doing hole-shots between bikes waiting at traffic lights and then screetch to a stop next to you at the front of the line and slurr-scream for directions to Water Street and say they can't hear me with my visor down ( :) ), then do a near-dump as they dirt-track slide around the corner and nearly clip a bus and a taxi and nearly get beaned by the Beemer in the right lane when the light turns green, I figure that's probably a good time to find Prospect and Lafayette and head away from the mayhem and madness. But, yeah, I'll be wandering around down there off and on.

And, personally, we had a beer in the back of the fridge sitting there alone for about 6 months, finally gave it away this last weekend to someone helping us move. I'll have a sip or two every now and then, but never when I ride or drive.

There will definitely be lots of bikes arriving early. I've heard from some who will be attending Sturgis, hanging around there afterwards for a day or five, then heading to Milwaukee early after a wide meander to get here. Speaking of which, this might actually be a good Sturgis year. Some riders heading west to meet the start of the mainline return rides early, some avoiding Milwaukee like the plague and going to Sturgis hoping everybody else will be going to Milwaukee instead, and all sorts of other stuff. If certain things hadn't transpired like they did this could have been a good summer to take off from June to October and do nothing but ride. But life goes on, and it will still be fun, actually much better this way with someone to share it with.

I imagine some riders will get into town a bit early for the Buell event. I'll guess that Ez may arrive on Monday or Tuesday and crank off the prairie miles once he realizes that the Black Hills are the last significant hills he'll see until he heads back westward. But then again he may decide to go wander the SW-WI region and we may not see him until Wednesday morning thumping his way in to the festivities with miles of tales to tell. Yep, lots and lots of bikes will be in town from the middle of August until early September.

Hey, I'm sorry my comments caused any controversy. I was just BS'ing, but it's hard to tell in print becuase you can't see the person, their expression, or tone of voice. I'll lighten up with the BS and you have to forgive me !!

You guys are doing an Awesome job, don't think anyone else could do better and you have my full support.

Hang in there, hang tough, and you'll have an event you can be proud of when it's all over !!

CJ,
Don't change nothin'. Without BS there would be no flowers in the garden. :)
Plus it keeps the discussion going, and brings to light some issues that may otherwise not have surfaced until game time.

Okay...I'm going to step back into this thread but I'm treading lightly.

First of all....I didn't mean to offend anyone. The planning of this event is becoming a logistic nightmare. And with all the ideas coming into the mix, it was getting harder to separate everything. Not unlike the Team Elves process, your support is VERY important to the success of this event. Also not unlike the Team Elves, sometimes people need to "stay out of the kitchen". More than anything else, we want this to be the most kick-ass event (besides Bonneville) that the BWB has seen.

That being said...please trust that we are working very hard to make this event an awesome time for everyone. The schedule of events will include options for people of all shapes, sizes & riding abilities. Not unlike the Homecomings of the past, there will be scheduled events along with a list of optional activities. We will be seeking volunteers to help with all events.

Please be patient while we hammer out the details. You won't be disappointed!!!

There...now that burning bush has had it's say, it will extinguish itself:)

OK just got done talking to Jay Holly from ATC and he brought up a few good points.
1 Do we really want the motor company paying for there own party?
2 If not who is gonna pay?

So I was thinking that we keep the presentation at the factory pretty simple. Maybe have a tent. Do a meet and greet, some tours and head out. Remeber this will be a work day for them, plus they are also going to be getting ready for the 100th party also.

"...sometimes people need to "stay out of the kitchen".

Uh, hi there, care to expand a little bit, and please do so without a gavel, okay?

At the risk of upsetting the powers that be, I'll throw a little spice into the stew "in the kitchen".

People need to talk, and this being an open forum people should not be told to stay out of the kitchen. There are two threads now on this subject, and the disorganization of the transfer from the quick board to the storm fronts was more kneejerk than moderated by need in effect. With that said, if you guys want to organize all the events then have at it. And if we, the peons in the living room and garage want to speak up with our desires and personal plans then we will do so.

I see two tracks here.
One: The signature cards and the initial primary ride to deliver said signatures to Erik in East Troy on Wednesday August 20th.
Two: Everything else that may come in relation to and surrounding that number one event or activity.

The primary problem I see at this point in time however is the defusing of the enthusiam put forth. The great thing about the world of Buell is our enthusiam and unstructured individuality. And while I will admit that sometimes an organizer or planner needs to reign in some controls, an organizer or planner also needs to realize that too heavy of a hand will just cause a negative effect on the event and people will just say screw it, not worth the hassle, show up for the primary event, and blow off all the rest and just go for a ride instead.

My suggestion to the mighty three or four would be to deal a light hand on the site here, keep us informed of news and activity as they start taking a more concrete form, and keep an eye on what's being mentioned and spoken here.

Too heavy of a hand will only have a negative effect. I've more to say, but I think I may have said too much. It's almost lunch time and I'm hungry, I think I'll go find a kitchen to raid. :)

Spider,
It's in August, no tent required, and for me tours optional. There will be plenty of activity in the Buell buildings getting ready for the tours (if any) the following week. And if they're smart down there (and they are) they will be openly inviting as many H.O.G. members to come to E.T. and tour the facility. I'm not overly certain that a tour is such a good thing to plan for at this event due mainly to the nearness of the 100th perparations.

Just my opinion. Do with it as you desire. Gotta go eat something now before I bit anything else. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. ;) :) :)

So far Harley hasnt come up with any concrete plans for the 100th yet. Dont know why they are dragging their ass. Thye havent stated whether or not Buell will be included in those plans. The last event they had here attendance was dismal for anything that had the word Buell in it. They threw the Buell folks a couple of small dried up bones & expected everyone to love em.

I dont think a tent is required. Are tours even gonna be allowed? I know I have attended tours in the past that were on working days. I will tell you that a tour on a day when nobody is working is pretty damn boring. A few half built bikes & some parts sitting around.

I agree with Mike about the kitchen deal. This should be a "peoples" event. If the powers that be decide that for some reason the logistics or whatever become simply too demanding or overwhelming, then either ask for help or stand aside. I would prefer that they simply ask for help, dont be afraid to delegate authority.

Spidey, just figured out who the hell Holly is. Its Jay Hawley.

And what do you mean by the company "paying" for their own party? Whats to pay for? We have riders show up, we present the card, maybe take some tours. What cost is involved on that???
As far as dinner goes, the cost is covered by those of us who attend. I believe the Battletrax costs are absorbed by the sponsoring dealership as a way to entice folks into their dealership.

Just trying to figure out what costs are involved here? We certainly dont need any type of food at the Buell factory, there is a McDonalds right outside of town:D Besides, I believe Buells KITCHEN is closed right now.

Hawley was thinking about a tent out there and a BBQ for the employees, I was thinking a tour session and hang out after the card giving.

Spidey I don't think that Buell will necessarly have to spend a dime on this.Just I think that the dealers want to make sure before they throw money at for instance food, battletrax, bike show or what ever is in the mix that Buell indeed is recognizing that theres a STORM coming through.Once this happens we will really be able to figure out a awesome schedule.

Here's my defense of my previous postings. You can take it for what it is or not...

The reason we were asking for a brief respite was to get some details confirmed. An example...everyone is talking factory tours. I know if I was Buell, I wouldn't want 50-300 people wanting to go through the factory on a production day. Just think of the cost in lost time & productivity. There is also logistics and costs involved with the BattleTrax.

All we were asking is that everyone give us some time to get confirmations on some events (tours & BattleTrax). Once these events can be confirmed, then the real planning can begin (filling in other events, volunteers to run events, etc).

I think it's a great thing to see all these people excited about the 20th Anniversary. Please don't misinterpret what is being asked of the masses. It's just a slower process than expected to get these confirmations.

Now I'm going back into the kitchen to find a host hotel & dinner facility. Do I dare ask what everyone wants for dinner:D
