FBRAT, Sun 9/11/05:
well, in spite of letting my hair down last night (what little there is), SOMEHOW i managed to drag my crusty arse out of EBear's tent (thanks for the digs, man!) in time to catch yet another sunrise on the road.
don't know about you, but to me the Uly looks like a natural out here.

now THIS is cool! this is none other than Jerry Johnson, a man of some renown in these parts, partly 'cause he's such a Buell-head, partly 'cause he's such a good guy.
it had been FOREVER since i'd ridden with him (as in late last century), and i thought it was bitchin' of him to make the journey out to Ocotillo to party with us.

while we were stopped in Julian on our way outbound from Ocotillo Wells a bunch of red and blue lights and wailing sirens ripped out of town in the direction we were soon to be headed. we ran into this mess several minutes later, at the scene of a bike wreck.
i don't take pix of bike wrecks, but i took a few shots of the crowd scene here just to document the stop.
the rider was hurt, but not life-threatening, and the mood among those backed up in traffic was rather light.
we were party to three separate bike shunts today (one of them was an FBRAT'r), but only one the players (the one being attended to during the stop pictured above) went away in an ambulance.
ride safe, peeps.

not long after we erupted up Via Volcano we blazed Killen Trail, one of the coolest roads i rode on the entire trip.
i decided that the Uly looked good parked in this mud puddle, and waited for Jerry Johnson to come ripping by on his Yamahammer.
all well and good until i got back to the bike and noted all the wasps who were buzzing around the Uly, all a little po'd, wondering who was responsible for harshing their little gig.
i beat a hasty retreat.

i think Tom and Al are signifying their joy of making it thru the wasp cloud i stirred up without taking a stinger upside their proboscises.
ps: pretty safe bet this road has not seen three Ulys flying in formation before...

meet Victor Rosales, "Viros" here on BADWEB, whom i hadn't seen in a while and whose company i always enjoy.
i sometimes call him "Weektor", or sometimes "Veeros" (roll the "r" ) like a Greek god!
