before i close out this day, one more pic: Mr. Joe Boyd was the "father" of several of Honda's finest motorcycles, including their legendary Blackbird. this photo was taken about a decade ago. we're not sure who took it, and not sure the identity of everyone in the pic, but here's the best we know: L to R: Mark Drake, unknown (purple shirt), Chris Schlieter, Mark Ueeck, Court Canfield, Josef Boyd, Russ Madsen, lady unknown. it's a cool shot for many reasons, one being that there's our very own Court Canfield (well before i first met him), and my relatively new friend Russ Madsen, who's idea it was to visit Joe's grave today. and, there is Mr. Boyd himself. very nice. grand stuff, this day, and i dug every mile. i was just plain whupped when Jim and i got to his home in Santa Barbara, but his wife and daughter had a scrumptious spread waiting for us, after which Jim and i retired to the Boyz Room, drank Baileys, and thru drooping eyes i edited some more pix to hang here on BADWEB. it had been another epic day, capping off an epic weekend, attached to an epic ride. my heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE who played along this weekend, i hope you all had as much fun as i did. two more days to go. |

Ferris, further proof that you live a charmed life... The cop who wrote me up for speeding apparently had an epic change of heart in honor of FBRAT? (or forgot to turn in the ticket), and my appearance date came and went. Today I got a notice from the Orange County Superior Court and Guess What? The "Case is dismissed in the interest of Justice"! Perhaps our visit with Joe Boyd restored the karma in the universe that day. Thanks again for an unforgettable day of riding. Until we can go out and ride those other roads we passed over that Sunday, take care. Sparky |

Too Cool, Sparky!!! I wish the same thing would happen with the ticket Ebear and I got the day before, but it isn't looking likely. Al |

"Case is dismissed in the interest of Justice" RIGHT ON!!! cool beans, Sparky. i know the cop was just doing his job, but i never thought a ticket was in order that day. am pleased that it went this way for you, and if Mr. Boyd had something to do with it...well, it's just all very cool. now we need to see what we can do about sending some karma Al and Ebear's way...
