Training is traingin.....but TRAINING with Grizzly is entirely different. Pete....might want to think about entering the WWF Smackdown Challenge the week after the event is over....I'm betting he'll have you in shape for it. The video, once again, from Griizlywood is AWESOME! Thanks Mates, Court |

Just so you can begin to understand the depth of pain this bloke might make me endure to get fit, did any of you, bearing in mind that his bike is a BMW and made in Germany, happen to notice the insignia painted on the fuel tank? |

Ten minutes? You went for ten whole minutes before your legs turned to jelly? Does the Mrs. know about this new personal best of yours? And secondly, if my Mrs. sees this brash new pronouncement of endurance, I'll be in a terrible fix having to train likewise. Great video officer Griz! Thanks! |

Now I'll set up a challenge How about we get Griz to write up a training schedule for both of us, and see who's still sticking with it at the end of the year? |

By the way....Peter, let Grizzly know we need to talk. I wore the Mobiele Ehaad (or whatever) hat into the United Nations the other day. Apparently some of their Security folks (the ones holding me at gun point to be specific) read Amsterdamian better than I do. Thank Grizzly, on my behalf, for the hat AND yet another "Grizzly induced" encounter with Law Enforcement. Any wonder I love this guy? Court |

I can't believe you guys are riding without elbow pads, been down enough times to REALLY appreciate them, last time I was banged up through my elbow guards.Don't want to think about how much pain I would have been(still been in?) in without them.Wear your gear every time!! |

Blake, Don´t go wimping on me.... Court, I was wearing one as I wandered through Tianiman Square last year. There was a very switched on Chinese security bloke giving me a long hard look when he saw it. Grizzly, our friend... FMJ, Sorry Dad. I actually had one of these safety jackets in the car, but it was pretty hot |

Hi Court, I can't believe I forgot to tell you that the "M.E." is a Police Unit special trained in kicking old people and little children. Probably the Security guy's grandmother has been in Amsterdam and was caught smoking a joint or walking on the green. Wearing that cap in public is an act of Heroisme |

Ooops, Looks like the movie has sent the monthly traffic on Pete2 Dakar over it's allowable limit, so I've had to remove it for a while. Does anybody know where I can have an 8mb movie hosted, cheap? Jim, Believe me, I was sweating...! |

Thanks mate :+( Just a few more days.... As I sit here in Copenhagen airport, the irony of bringing Interpol, a New York based band, to the Roskilde festival, is not lost on me. To my good friend Henrik, greetings from your homeland |

Ahhh, Roskilde Festival - then it must be raining in Danmark This is a 3 day rock music festival, some 7 stages, I think about 200,000 people attend every year. And for some reason it always ends up raining. Total mud slide. Anyway - Copenhagen airport, eh. Could be worse. They have good beer on tap 24/7, and back when Whiskey World was still in business, you could taste a few different brands of Scotch for free 24/7 as well. When the rest of the world reaches our level of development, you'll learn the value of a few extra letters as well. Take the word skål for instance Thanks for the greetings. I'm heading that way myself in a few weeks. Now - back to your training! Henrik |

These blond's eat Ausies for breakfast Grizzly's got it right - be careful around those blondes I spoke to the folks, and they - as you said - had perfect weather for the festival. The beer sales were through the roof. Skål; actually, your translation is not too far off. Legend has it that the Danish vikings would take the skull of killed enemies and drink mjød (early version of beer, often with a shot of mushroom hallucigenics from them. The drinking "greeting" would presumably be "skal" (i.e. skull), which then later became skål ... which is also the danish word for bowl. Henrik |

On holidays at the moment, but I just checked into an internet cafe here and saw this; ------------------------------------------------- \Issy-les-Moulineaux, 12 July 2005 The Dakar sold out six months before the start ! Not one place left to enter a vehicle, whatever the category! For the first time in its history, the Dakar is, as of July, full in all categories: cars, bikes, trucks and assistance. After the bikes filling up at the end of June, with more than 350 demands for 230 places, now it is the turn of the cars, trucks and assistance vehicles: 180 cars, 75 trucks and 240 assistance vehicles. A total of 725 vehicles, of which 485 are entered in the race, which represents approximately 1700 people, from an ever increasing number of countries. The organisers have been obliged to close the entry books, and are no longer able to satisfy the many demands to take part: “We are aware that many potential entrants are frustrated. The Dakar has never experienced such demand before, not just in France but also from abroad, which now make up 70% of the entrants. The Dakar’s appeal is stronger than ever because the values it represents continue inspire. This year’s figures show it once again,” affirmed Etienne Lavigne, Director of the Dakar. www.dakar.com Contact Press Marie Christine Lamy Tel :+33 1 41 33 14 65 - Fax : +33 1 41 33 15 39 mclamy@aso.fr ------------------------------------------------- Sure glad I put my entry in early! I just received a newsletter from the Dakar organisers. In it is a quote from a Ronn H. Bailey who says; "It's like driving from Los Angeles to New-York, then back to Los Angeles, and then to Denver, Colorado, all of it off-road." Is that a long way? Pete2 Dakar |

100 hrs or so then? @ 8 hrs/day, that's 12.5 days. Hah! We've got 15. Easy... On holidays at the moment in Greece. Running 3km up the mountain, and then 3km back every 2nd day. Swimming around a km everyday. Around 100 deg temps. For the rest, just lounging around and playing with my kids Pete2 Dakar |
