FBRAT, Wed 9/7/05: good morning, and welcome to TBear and Sandy's home in Guffey, Colorado: the storm we'd ridden thru to get here last night started dumping BIG rain moments after we arrived, and kept us company throughout much of the night. this morning, however, dawned bright and clear, and we could finally get a good look around. TBear and Sandy built this home with their own hands, and it is COOL! it's a straw bale home, with a TON of awesome hand-crafted features and details, and in spite of how cold it had gotten overnight, the warmth generated by four people moving about this morning was enough to heat their home, to the point that i was actually a little TOO warm by the time we rolled out. amazing. Denise is watching several small birds feeding on seeds on the deck, which is built such that the cat cannot get up there to bother them. TBear made the drums in the right of the photo. if i could spell "renaissance", well, that's the kind of man he is. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on October 09, 2005) |

TBear, if you're lurking, and are so inclined, i'd love for you to take a few minutes and describe your home, the work that went into it, and some the cool systems you have in place to make the home easy to live with and friendly to the environment. and we're off, down the world's longest driveway! BIG storm the night before, so rather than escort us out on his V-Rod (due to fear of getting stuck), TBear followed along in his 4X4 Subaru Outback, which Denise wisely opted to hang out in for this portion. this also allowed me to run sans luggage for a bit (it was stowed in the car), which made the passage much easier. three shots, taken from the same spot but looking different directions, to give an idea of the lay of the land. Travis and Sandy live in a little slice of paradise. #1 (Message edited by jerry_haughton on October 06, 2005) |
