Bob "Racerboy" LaMear had originally planned on meeting up with us in southern Iowa, but when he and his riding partners for the day - Marissa and her dad John - discovered that Marissa's bike had a tire going down, they had to u-turn and head back to the barn (said barn being located in St. Louis). ruined the day? nope, just set them back a little, is all. when they got to St. Louis Marissa jumped on her OTHER bike, and off they went, in search of FBRATs. this is our rendezvous with them, not in Iowa as planned, but still cool nonetheless, and i'm appreciative for their tenacity and passion for the ride. group hug around Madduck's Uly (note that Drake wins yet again). l to r: Alex, JJ, Bill, John, Sam, Bob, Drake, Rob, Larry, Loren, Marissa, and Tim, in Booneville, MO. sadly, this is where we disconnected from Racerboy, Marissa and John, as they had a long ride EAST back to St. Louis, and we had a long ride WEST to Kansas City. we didn't get to ride with them long, but it sure was good, and again i salute their passion for the ride. after a long day on the road...party at the ThunderDome II! this is our arrival at Jeff "Thunder" Griswold's crib in Lee's Summit, Missouri, just outside Kansas City. early in the FBRAT scheming stages we had planned on heading out for some of KC's famous BBQ tonight after we got cleaned up but the Labor Day holiday kept getting in the way, so Thunder had been working for several days on a famous BBQ of his own. which we could smell when we pulled up. about a minute after we arrived, someone thrust something in my hand. the "someone" was Thunder. the "something" was an ice cold Boulevard Pale Ale. in a Buell glass, no less. i took an instant liking to my new friend. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on September 22, 2005) |
