Brad, You'll have to read and sort thru these, I just did a quick search on another site and snap-captured the posted links. Looks like at a bare minimum you folks may have to detour some routes and rides due to traffic, park, and road closures. http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/06/10/colorado.wildfire/index.html http://www.rockymountainnews.com/ http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0%2C0%2C36~11~%2C00.html? http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/06/10/colorado.wildfire/index.html http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,54877,00.html From a quote posted by someone on another board: "Everything west of SR 67 from Lake george to Denver is what I just heard. Its not a mass evacuation, there just evacuating following the fire line. True info is all over ham radio. My friend has 40 acre up there, I may go up and help some more." http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/psicc/fire/hayman/closures.htm |

By next week those fires will either be out or have moved a good 40 miles so nothing you read about road closings today will really matter. We will just have to play it day to day I'm afraid. |

Yeah Dan, That's kind of what I figured. Mike, thanks for the links. I had seen a couple of them but not the others. Could be an interesting week! Looks like I will be leaving with Mike E on Tuesday morning or Monday night. IAMike, need to touch bases regarding your route. I'd like to catch up with you before Wed if possible. Brad |

Brad, Ironbutt it. Head west to Rushmore, then southwest to Flaming Gorge in sw Wyoming, then south to I-70, then up I-70 to Breckenridge. Just an idea. Enjoy the ride whichever way you go. |

Brad and Mike(s) Sorry I had to back out of the trip at the last minute. As a fresh college graduate, I needed to find a job with a future in it and one came up earlier than I thought. I am working at the Super Valu corporate office as a Buyer, if you care. I fealt it would be a little inappropriate for me to ask for vacation just one month after I started working there. Anyway, just wanted to make sure you guys understand. I was in Denver just before I started my job and it was snowing the night I got there and then 85 degrees and sunny the next moring. So be prepared for anything. By the way, have you guys gotten any rides in in the superb weather we have been having? I went to Stillwater and have been just tooling around Bloomington like crazy!! Sean-sorry you can't make it, maybe next year. Brad-I may not be going until monday now. My boy's paintball team was asked to go play some big pro team in Chicago sunday. I'll have to go along as an chaperone I guess (maybe I'll even get to play). We will be in room 202 at the Longbranch Wed. We are just going to go to Denver then decide from there which way to go. Most likely we will stop & see Don and another buddy that lives near him. If you guys can get away monday, maybe we can meet along the way. We want to leave fairly early and not have to push it quite like last year. I'd like to get to at least Ogallala before we cash it in. |

Hi All, Cheryle and I just got home from a ten day vacation back to Wisconsin to the AMA road races at Road America. Put close to 3000 miles on the bikes, got to meet Erik Buell on Monday at the factory(thanks to Dave from the Waterloo Ia. Buell dealership for setting it up). Rode less than 300 miles of interstate highway. Saw lots of country side and had a great time. There is nothing better than traveling with someone you love. Took Kerri and Taz and they had a great time too. As we all know there are fires in Colorado. But as they keep saying on the news only one percent of the state is on fire. That leaves alot of Colorado to ride. We may have to reroute some rides, and will probably have to cancel one that was to go through right where the biggest fire is burning. We came home to messages from two of our ride leaders, one can't come this year and the other may not be able too. We're working on it. Now to clean, and change oil in the bikes, plus get new tires on the M-2. See you next week. Kim & Cheryle Beres |

Kim and Cheryl, Glad you made it back safe and sound. Did you go to Pete's in Prairie Du Chein? It was great meeting you two and Sirblack Buell. I hope the fires go out so you guys can ride this week. I just saw on the news this morning that it's by Durango now too. Be safe! ps where can I find the picture of us with Erik? Ride to the edge! Alright now Kim: Your just trying to make me jealous! Anyway do a little post camera editing and show off what your garge really looks like! Let see some shots of the riding. I wish I could be there, last year was great even with the wet. Hopefully the smoke won't get in your eyes. Best of roads to you and yours. Neil S. |

OK folks, If you're not here, ya blew it! Sorry for the above short posts, Kim and Cheryl had a few keyboard/chair interface problems! Had to do a bit of tweeking for them. Many more pics to follow after folks get back home. No way to pull them from the camara's right now. We're outta here, we are all starved from all the hard mountain riding! Brad |

Saturday Morning gathering for the last ride. Saturday morning was typical for the rally. Blue skies, good weather & warm. Each day had its adventures without any major trouble from the reliable Buells. Some of them were fortunate enough to see Mountain goats & babies on top of Mt. Evans. Each nite was full of great conversation and laughter. Saturday we all had a picnic at Turquiose Lake to end it all. Thanks to the ride leaders: Bob , Dave , Murrae , Mable & Don. Cheryle & Kim |

Thanks for the pic's Mike! We look like a bunch of ants! MikeE and I made it home w/o incident. Glad to see the same for you. We had TONS of traffic problems in MN. I didn't get home till about 6:45 or so. It took longer from the MN boarder than it did from DesMoines!! (or how ever it's spelled) Kim, Cheryle... Thanks tons for your coordination efforts. I had a GREAT time with superb folks. I'm too pooped to type and post. I'll work on the picture thing tomorrow. Hmmm, I think there's a martinni in the other room with my name on it! Brad |
