Dr. Greg: Don't feel conspicuous.....many of us are pilots as well. I used to have a Lance (38188) and two of the kids who work for me have just bought planes. There are also some of the Buell factory folks, Randell Hendricks, comes to mind who have been bitten by the bug, recently taken lessons and are flying a great deal. I've never been able to explain it but anytime you get a group of Buell folks together you find an inordinate amount of common interest in motorcycles, guitars (look for a big announcement in the coming 5 weeks) and airplanes. I'm still holding out for a Badweb Citation. Henrik, Have to admit I was interested to see how the "moth balled for 5 years" S-2 performed....it never missed a lick and is still as fun as can be. I, on the other hand, don't do the 7AM - 11:30PM as gracefully as I once did. Court |

it's rare, but it happens. me 'n D decided to take this day off together, and in my mind there's no better way to spend a day off than in the wind. the east face of Mount Whitney was our goal today, via Lone Pine (CA), the Alabama Hills and Horseshoe Meadows. Mount Whitney, at 14,494 feet, is the highest point in the continental United States. we logged 320 miles today to get there and back, including the 40 or so miles that the climb up to Horseshoe Meadows added to the trip meter. doing this ride on a Monday meant we had the "tourist" world pretty much to ourselves, and i can't tell you how many times today i figured i was the luckiest guy in the world to be out riding in such sublime country with my friend and partner Denise as the very best company imaginable. hope you enjoy the show. the sun is just comin' up, the bikes are out of the garage and pointed in the right direction. it's time to go ridin'. Horseshoe Meadows Road, just exiting the Alabama Hills. this was Denise's first visit. i brought Dino up here once, and have promised Unibear on two occasions but reneged both times due to time constraints. it's a pretty amazing ascent. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on June 13, 2005) |

looking down on the Owens Valley in general, and Horseshoe Meadows Road (immediately below and also stretching into the distance) and the Alabama Hills. the "splotches" on the valley floor are shadows from clouds. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on June 13, 2005) |
