Court: well put, and thanks. it was a grand adventure. EBear: OUCH! sounds like a great story to re-tell on the Hurl Deck this Oktober. UBear: not only that, she looks WAY better "commando". here's a pic of my new $XX pin in its new home: (Message edited by jerry_haughton on March 07, 2005) |

and up close and personal: here's the funniest part: the CAF rationalized that the pin what worth every shekel of the original asking price as it was given to him as a gift by the Verona, Italy HOG during a stop in Randsburg by some of their members last summer. wonder what they'd say if they found out this pin - a gift given in the spirit of international peace, friendship, and goodwill - was the center of some intense wheeling and dealing on the open market yesterday??? the kickstand is an old skeleton key, and the rear wheel/tire/fender is an old-fashioned (and painfully rusty) thumbscrew-type hose clamp. think i need to get after it with some Mothers... (Message edited by jerry_haughton on March 07, 2005) |

Hi! I had missed a lot of this because of my new schedule but I'm all caught up now. You make me feel like a wimp Ferris and Unibear for driving to work while So. Cal got washed away. Jerry the Strom looks awesome, but now I wont be able to even keep you in sight on the straights, (during Oktoberfast if I caught a glimpse of yellow I knew I wasn't too far |

FB1, You make me proud that you bought something with unpolished character. Don't forget the way to Randsburg, I see a dash trinket for the '48 Ford. I will save a wad souvenir dollars for a stop there this summer. |

Sandblast: while i can't honestly i can't say that the following was done entirely for you, you gotta admit that the results below would make it easier for you to pick the 'Strom out of a crowd of Giant Sequoias: these pix were taken yesterday morning, and those of you following along (could i have a show of hands, please? thank you.) will note the the Ugly Stromling has reverted back (relatively painlessly, actually) to it's original Hi-Viz blinded-by-the-light livery. why, you might ask? well, if you had seen the look of shocked dismay that took up residence on not only Unibear's wizened visiage when he first laid eyes on my grown-in-the-garage custom black paint job but also on Dino's mug when he first spied my efforts up-close for the first time...well...let's just say the boys were characteristically polite and barely uttered a word, good, bad, or otherwise. one could assume, i suppose, that i perhaps had other, larger reasons for the black paint's miraculous disappearing act as well, and they'd be pretty much right. more to come. 'also on Dino's mug when he first spied my efforts up-close' Actually, I thought it looked pretty good, all things considered. I was concerned, however, that said paint job might have a detrimental effect on the bike's value should one decided to, for instance, trade it in.

Dino, You are far too kind. When Ferris told me about the look on your face (and Unibear's) and the fact neither of you uttered not a peep.... I really expected a call from one of you inquiring if the cognitive abilities of my beloved were in question. |

Denise - I believe that Glenn and I both know Ferris sufficiently well that we quite capable of answering that question on our own.

Court, i've got a cool story about a railroad spike that was, in fact, just mailed to me, from a dear, dear friend. remind me some time??? FMJ, you're right, of course, but given time my paint job would have looked almost factory...maybe. there are a lot of things in this life yet to accomplish, and one of these days i'll have a gun and lay down a decent paint job on something, if nothing else to regain a little credibility with Dino and Unibear. UberBear, Spike is doing great now that he has a companion. Spike #1 will, someday, get his polishing job finished (i've been a little distracted lately...), while his new friend Spike #2 will remain "as is", a reminder, perhaps, of what a railroad spike is SUPPOSED to look like. finally..."ticket magnet", you say??? if you only knew. btw, you up for a BBQ here at the 'Dome on Sunday afternoon April 10th? Dino, you and Char are invited too. I asked Glenn a week or so ago if he could come up in his car one day soon and haul something down to Bakersfield for a buddy of mine. Unibear, let me know if that date works for you and me 'n D will begin stockpiling refreshments.
