I believe I am using the word "Random" in the adjective form ran·dom [ran-duhm] –adjective 1. proceeding, made, or occurring without definite aim, reason, or pattern. In example: The random selection of topics occurring on this board. It has meaning. And It should be "It doesnt have ANY MEANING" "...absolutely NO MEANING" is improper grammar. The word "new-age" is what many hippies of the 60s and 70s turned into in the 80s and 90s with the best intentions, except without drugs... Now you know and knowing is half the battle | ||

Since the user accounts are goofed, or actually gone, and Brian our sysadmin is at hospital with his dying mother, I've registered BadWeatherBikers.net, arranged for site with top notch commercial service, Rackspace, based here in Texas too, yeehaw! Will be getting the VB forum up there asap. Who wants to help? Anyone with VB experience here? I loaded VB onto our current server but it was years ago. Then I can move the existing discus board too. | ||

Need someone to develop the skin for the BadWeB VB. I can upload and install okay, or so I thought. I mistyped something in the setup on the first try. Need to try again. Anyone know if the later versions of VB are worth the expense. Last version we're good for is 3.8.1. I still see a lot of forums running 3.6.x. | ||

Yea thats the way I would do it. I assume it has several themes that users can pick, we could always import another one if needed. Hopefully something that isn't paperbag colored will at least be an option. I understand the backstory to the colors, but the option to change them for those who don't want them is a must. As for the 4.0 upgrade, from what I can tell, it is(was) a lot more resource intensive than 3.8, but this was partly fixed with the newer versions. I don't see any major reason to go to 4, but I haven't seen a details list comparing what both versions have. It shouldn't be hard to figure out how to get everything running, I did some experimenting a few years back with PHPBB, and once you got a database setup the rest is basic customization. | ||

I like the 'paper bag' colored background. Actually, on every computer I've been on, BadWeb shows up as IBM typewriter green. For those of you old enough to know what I'm talking about, this was the color IBM chose for its 'Selectic' typewriters because, according to their research, it was the least distracting, easiest-to-look-at-for-a-long-time color they could find. | ||

Looks like all the new people that created profiles in the last few days will have to sign up again. I just checked, it appears that those new accounts that were created after the backup are gone. Not a big deal, but some of them were newbies to our forum, and they will probably be confused. | ||
