Court . . ..after talking to the tech at a number of HD/Buell dealerships, I was amazed to see the differences in training that the techs had received (being in the manuals/training buisness, I tend to gravitate toward that end of dealer prep).

on second thought, replace amazed with horrified . . . . .it seems that you can sorta design your own program, which can included pretty near no training at all . . . . .

this would help explain how some dealerships can be so, er, ah, needful of assistance, and others can shine so brightly . . . . . . .

having worked on both sides of the fence (manufacturer and dealer), I know that factory-mandated requirements look alot like federally mandated state-run and fund programs, but, at the end of the day, no one bought a Bubba, a Luke, or a Riverside (fictitious HD dealership names), they bought a Buel or a Harley-Davidson.

It might be a good idea for some of the folks who are using HD dealership signs as a get-rich-quick scheme to pay attention to the fact that FOMOCO is busily buying up dealerships in Indiana . . . . .hmmmmm . . . . .I wonder what THAT might mean.

Ladies & gentelmen I have been waiting 7 weeks and counting for a new fairing for my '99 S3T.
I live in Alaska which has a short riding season.
Waiting this long for factory parts stinks. I've
read the comments from other members on this and other web pages and know I'm not suffering alone.
If the factory does indeed read these pages it would seem they would know full well what their
manufacturing shortcomings are and FIX THEM!
Thanks for giving me a place to vent. I'm all better now. No,really...

Mark:

A couple hints:

  • 1) Go to / call dealer.
  • 2) INSURE order was placed (this is the single largest source of slow Buell orders)
  • 3) Have dealer call S.P.O.C. and ask for "Pick Number".
  • 4) If he doesn't have a number written down when he gets off the phone, think of yourself on first base, down 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th and drop me a note.

QUESTION: Has dealer offered "loaner" while you are waiting? If it's the dealer I think it is they are well regarded in the Buell commmunity.

Keep me posted.

Hmm! wonderful corporate America. Where else can people of questionable talent and IQ can climb the ladder. Long live mediocraty!! I guess this explains why parts support is nowhere on the radar screen once a bike is sold!! What a concept to keep a customer happy! I know the bean counters and their little elves are singing all the way to the boss' office. Maybe I should just stick to walking.

>>>Maybe I should just stick to walking.

Likely not a bad idea. In my personal experience, riding a motorcycle under the influence of a bad attitude is worse than the effects of inebriants.

Shake it off. Go for a walk. Read "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff". Get some fresh air. And, c'mon back.
