Whoever came up with the buell logo tank stickers for my y2kM2, the thick flexible clear plastic... they are really nice.

Even if they were just a kludge for bubbled stickers, they look really cool, kind of a glowing floating dimensional thing happening.

(just noticed today, because one peeled off and I gotta stick it back on).

Fst_tymes, Vanson makes some great Buell leathers. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. I have one of their Cordura/Leather Buell jackets (half price, too!) and couldn't be more impressed with it. A major cut above the rice rocket companies' fare.

Just bought a used 1999 X1! I also have a 1999 FXDX 95" with lots of power, but this little thing will run circles around that big boy, lots of fun to ride also. The speedo can not be right, is it? Really nice engineering and design going on here for sure, that Buell guy must have gone to a how to build it school someplace!!!

Does anyone know what the swingarm is made of? What type of aluminum, how thick? Thanks.

Erik,

I love my XB9R...I would have bought the 12 but the only thing holding me back was the fuel capacity...same amount but a bigger motor. I really wish the fuel capacity could be more like 4-5 gallons BEFORE the light comes on for some serious range.

Just a thought...

Erik,
Thank you for the XB 12R . It is a unique bike with B-lls. When can we expect a liquid cooled version ? I have put over 10,000 miles on my 12R in the last 8 months and love it , thanks again!

Keep up the good work Erik and company...we want this and we want that, but that is a heck of a good bike you got out there. As I said, we want this and we want that, but we don't always understand what you have engineered for, therefore our requests/dreams are already covered sometimes...maybe most of the time. The Buell is one great bike. Keep on engineering them, and I will keep on buying them...Cyko Bob

P.S...use the KISS principle...keep it air cooled, keep it V-Twin, keep it pushrod...keep that low end torque...so much easier to maintain...love my virtually maintenance free Buell...very few problems for me....dang it; wear out those tires so dang fast, but what do you expect from a light bike that is always ready to go! Hope I get to drink a beer with you Buell guys one of these days

I don't need much. Just give me a sport-touring version of the XB.

Oh, and I want the heads of the guys responsible for the no-show at Daytona.

That's not too much to ask, is it?

Just want to say I love the bike (04 12R). I like that there are several places making aftermarket performance stuff, but I am more comfortable with items designed and/ or authorized by the manufacturer. It would be nice to have more performance upgrades available from Buell, maybe even an entire performance division/line, like HD's "Screamin Eagle".
Thanks, Greg Campbell

How about a factory model with full fairings? I also have the usual wish list, overhead cams, water cooling, aluminum/nic-a-sil cylinders, 6 speed tranny, chain final drive (or other means of adjustable final drive ratio). Factory bobbin (rear stand) mounts and factory fame slider mounts too while I'm wishing.

Now that I've picked things apart, I say thank you for continuing to think outside the box and advance the art of motorcycle engineering.

Just a note to let you know that the subject of one day passes during the week days for local Bueller's at the BRAG Homecoming is being addressed in the Homecoming Thread in the Stormfronts section.

Is a simple issue and your opinion counts. So don't hesitate posting regardless of your opinion on the issue.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hope y'all can help, Few months back I bought a City Cross. I love the bike but as of late have been having tons of problems with it. First a fouled spark plug after sitting in my garage overnight. NOW after a fix and three hours later my poor buell refused to shift into fourth gear. Again back in the shop and still awaiting diagnosis. Can anyone help me??

I Have an 04 XB12r. It has just over 7000 miles, and today I removed the front wheel so I could take it in and get the new tire mounted and balanced. I dropped the tire and wheel off, to be picked up later. My bike rested just outside the rear door of my shop. While I was taking a break for lunch a friend stopped by. We started talking about the bike. The we spoke, the more amazed I became at the engineering that has gone into this machine. I am not familiar with any other sport bikes out there, but I have to think this is the most ingenious production bike out today. I have previously removed and replaced the rear tire, and know how simple that evolution is. No adjustment, engineered for proper belt tension, alignment, with extremely limited mechanic error available. The front brake, the front wheel, the Frame! It's a almost a work of art. I do custom fabrication, have built, modified, repaired race cars, street cars, farm equipment, tool boxes, whatever someone wants modified or custom built. In my work, I spend most of my time working to make a complicated assembly, or process, "Simple". You have done a wonderful job of making a series of complicated systems simple, by that, I mean neat, clean, and efficient. From the engine mounting, to the frame design, to its unique style, it is in my opinion a true work of art. I want to say congratulations on your masterpiece, and thanks. I enjoy riding this motorcycle more than any other I have owned. I already have more miles on it in 10 months than I did on my last three bikes combined ( owned over several years)

So this message it not coz i want to be flamed OKAY Everyone!!
I just want my problem taken care of once and for all. Yeah some of you may remember that i posted up here before about my blast last year. Well let just say the thing ran for about 2 month before more problems started to happen.

I have a Buell Blast and it's going to kill me! There are so many problems with this bike it's insane.
I have spoken with Buell Canada ( Deeley Canada) and well they took it in for repair, however it's still not running right. Now we have spent more than their cost of the bike in trying to repair it. However now the problem is, that it is going to kill me! It stalls out in corners , It has no power off the line, taking off quickly is not an option. I just am sick of people losing money and time on this bike.

Now the feeling i get from Deeley Canada is that they would like it if i just shut up and went away. Yes they have dealt with each problem each time, however i feel as if this is always going to have a problem.

The reason for this message is to maybe have Erik, Listen and help Make it so that people stop wasting money on a product that is defective. That is all.

/ rant over

>>>Yes they have dealt with each problem each time, however i feel as if this is always going to have a problem.

From the above it sounds as if
  • Deeley's HAS DEALT with each problem, each time.
  • You FEEL as if this is always going to have a problem.

Is the bike currently giving you problem?

What have the folks at Deeley deduced?

Is it the same problem reoccuring or a case where they get one fixed and another appears?

Data please. I recall having spoken to someone at Deeley about this and your posting that all had been taken care of.

Keep me posted, I'll help if I can.

Court,
Here is the thing, Yes they made a bracket that made it so the carb didn't fall off anymore. That was last time. And you dealt with House of Buell, Which is no longer there.

Yes my bike is giving me problems now. It dam near killed me yesterday.

Trev Deeley is not involved in this matter other than trying to repair it each time. I am not wanting the Dealer to spend any more money on this bike. I do not hold Trev Deeley accountable. They have no power in this matter.

Deeley Canada is one whom is involved and they say that they shall deal with each problem case by case. Not Good Enough!
For others case by case is good enough, not for me coz to me that states you are expecting more problems. Which is happening right now.

Listen i refrained from posting up here for a long time, however i have had enough.
If i were a new rider on this bike i would have been killed or very seriously injured by now.

You know what my bike Rocks when it's running. I am happy with it when it's running. I am proud to own it when it's running. The same line shows up each time "When it's Running".
I also what i want to fix is my confidence in this product. I don't trust my bike to not leave me stranded. I just want to ride and enjoy riding and not have to worry about am i going to stall out in this corner or off the line or what they hell else is going to fall off.

I don't want to make this personal with any one person. I just really really want to be happy with owning a buell again.

Just on a side note because i am sure that some people reading this are thinking, why doesn't she just sell it and buy a new one. Well it's financed so i am stuck with it for 2 more years.

I know it must come across as i am whiner but really i am not. I am just so very frustrated with this product that i am at the end of my little rope.

Thanks for listening to my little rant.

You do not. Each and every Buell owner has a right to expect their Buell to operate flawlessly and for those times when there are problems you have a right to have the problem resolved as quickly as possible.

Let's understand each other there. No one wants you to "just go away" or expects you to sell your Buell.

Now, what I *DO* need is for you to give me SPECIFICS. Through the entire post above, if I WANTED to send you the part to solve your problem I don;t know if it's a tire, a turn signal or a diode.

If you would write a list, like the following, it'd help.

  • Problem #1 - bike does XXXXXX; it's most noticable when XXXXX and so far the dealer has said XXXXXX and done XXXXX
  • Problem #2 - last week I was riding and just as I started to XXXXX the Blast wnet XXXXXXX

Give me some "actionable" stuff and let's get this baby sorted out! The BLAST is one of the most reliable and bullet proof motorcycles ever made, let's get you playing with the rest of the folks!

Yes Court, you're a construction worker. But it's the connections, and the passion you have for Buell that helps the little guy. Just as I am just a lowly tool/Die/Mold designer, I have enough connections with Buell/HD that could also help me if we were to have problems with the 6 Buells we own : )

But anyhow, Court, my hat is off to you sir. You *SHOULD* be on the Buell payroll as the best Buell PR guy on the planet. And let me also thank you for your passion toward these sometimes finiky two wheel wonders...

Yes, we also have a blast that is currently giving us, and Hal's HD a bit of fits. But something I'm more than confident that Hal's fine mechanics can fix

Okay sorry but i am by no means a mechanic, So this is the problems since before October. It's been to the dealer and they have done what they keep thinking is the problem.

The bike Stalls out in corners ( well let say it's done that 4 times in the last week) They replaces the rollover value already.

It seems as if it's not getting gas when taking off the line. ( They replaced the Slider and Intake mainfold coupler)

It has a flat zone, no power, no get up and go.

It's an intermittet problem, meaning that i can not put a km/h to it or weather conditions or anything to link it together.
It backfires out of the air box and pipe and stall out.
It will not fire on the first try after the stall out, or after sitting for a few hours.

It coughs and sputters That is when it also stalls.

Those are the problems as of right now.

* edit* i forgot that they replaces the jet, the needle , rerouted the breather hose, and adjusted the TPS. They check the electrical as well. I think that is all.

I just wish to ask Erik to keep building the bikes the way he sees fit. I may not agree with each design or change, but I have yet to ride a bike that doesn't fill the riding purpose of the average rider out there, and still have enough left over for the advanced rider to have fun on.

I might be pipe-dreaming here, but there is one thing I would like to see. I'd like to have the ability to order a bike and have it built from the factory with any/all of the accessories listed on the Buell website. Just like the way you can order a car exactly the way you want it from the factory. For instance, what if I wanted a XB12R with the new custom appearance package, race kit and touring seat. It would be really great to be able to order it and have it arrive at the dealer that way, instead of having to order each piece individually. Inevitably at some point, the dealer will drop the ball and not order something, not install something correctly, etc. Just a thought. I have no manufacturing experience, so I have no idea how this would or would not complicate the process, but the auto manufacturers do it so its not impossible.

OK, I'll give it a play too. I just lost my bike to a van and really wish the Thunderbolt would come back in some incarnation. Something to (loosely) compete in the same class as my Concours would be teriffic.
