Yeah, and I feel this way even after owning four Harleys. Two I bought from the same dealer as the Buell. I think the Harley dealers were given no choice, Buells were pushed at them and they are bitter. Especially since sales are poor and profits low, along with recalls and too many stupid problems that never should happen. Like my sprocket nut backing off and ruining a perfectly good motor on a seven month old bike. But since Harley basically owns/controls Buell now, I can't see anyone else selling them. On the other hand, what Jap dealer would want to? They are too different, being Harley based and most of their customers being used to metric sportbikes are not interested, at least not yet. Why would a Jap dealer carry a line of problem plagued bikes when his usual brand of Yamaquackers is so reliable. Us Buell diehard fanatics are not plentifull enough to make to make the business worthwhile. Sorry for the ramble, I know its been said before. My .02 as they say. |

BCMIKE, and BULLITT, I completly agree that BUELLs should be sold through other outlets besides HD dealerships. This is HD's way of controlling the name. I take my bike to a HD speed shop. Rare is the occasion I feel out of place. All the bikes have Harley motors but most are not conventional Harley's. They enjoy working on Buells, mine isn't the only piglet in the shop. They give me excellent service and a better warranty than ANY of the 3 dealerships here in Phoenix would offer. If they allowed the (jap) shops to sell Buells, more riders would see them, test drive them, and fall in love with them. Just as we have. AND we would get better service, except that of course HD would screw them dealers the same way they are screwing their own dealerships. For now I'll continue riding, loving, and tinkering with my Buells. I still would like to have a Pre-HD Buell. like a '87 or 88 model. RS1200? hmmmmmmm Happy New Year all!!! |

Bartimus, Which HD speed shop do you use? I'm looking for a good Buell performance shop to dyno tune my M2. Chris |

We have dealers here in central Fla that sell anything that rolls on two wheels - with our climate year round use as regular transportation is common. New MuZs and Ural sidehacks are readily available here. Even Bimota had a presence until recently. The Yamaha guys already service air cooled pushrod twins. Any tech repairing broken Ducs and Aprilias would probably welcome the simplicity of a Buell. I'm betting that if BMC offered any of these guys a chance to belly up to the Harley trough they'd jump at the chance. C'mon Buell! Just do it! |
