About Michael's- it's a bar and grill serves breakfast on Sunday mornings. For whatever reason, bikers started meeting there and it became of of the larger gatherings in the area. On a good day it's not surprising to see over a hundred bikes. Even when it's cold there will be a decent crowd. I've actually never been there and seen less than 5 bikes, even in the pouring rain. The cool thing is that it's usually all different types of riders. The cold weather dulls the diversity a bit and mostly attracts touring bikes, but in the summer you'll see just about everything. I posted directions in the NC section a few weeks ago. Jim, I'll probably be there around 10:30am. From Apex I'll take 64, and then take some of the backroads to cut over to 15-501. My usual route is to turn right onto Farrington road from 64, left on Lystra, right on 15-501. If you're not familiar with those roads you can take Mt. Gilead Church from 64 to 15-501. I *think* Mt. Gilead Church is the first light on 64 after you cross the lake. Just take a right there and follow it to 15-501, turn right on 15-501, then start looking for Michael's on the right. Hope to see you there, Mike Luddy, Jr. '04 XB12R |

Ayden & 1313, let's go. We will have to leave early, but an easy ride. If the brake light switch doesn't cooperate, the Flying Suitcase is ready. |

Spike - I ride around Jordan Lake a lot. My usual route is to cross the lake and take the road by the gas station over to 15-501, and then backroads around the lake back to 64. I don't know the name of the first road, but it sounds like it might be Mt Giliad Church from your description. I'll leave here a bit before 10:00. If you see a red Blast, it's me! |

Man, wish I could go with you fellas. Looks like I'm going to put my bike in storage this weekend. I have to finish prepping and getting ready to ship out. I'm going to take it to Down East Cycles in New Bern (Britt Motor Sports) on Saturday. Man, I'm gonna be having some SERIOUS PMS for the next 7 to 15 months. Dave, Brankin, Carlos, if possible I'd like to ask you to possibly help my wife with my bike, right before I get back. Down East said that they could service my bike and that they have serviced them in the past. I'm going to keep in touch with them and probably have their tech get in contact with you Dave, especially if they need maint info. I'd just like someone to check it out for me right before I get home, to make sure they don't screw anything up. I'll keep in touch with ya'll. If you can help her out I'd be grateful. Basically if you could meet her there when she picks it up you could either trailer it to your house or shop and check it out for me, or you can ride it there to check it out (Hey, gotta make sure it's okay and riding it can be the best way right?) I'm SO tempted to have the DRUMMER put on it. That would require some serious coordinating to get done. It also depends on how long I'm gone and how much I can afford. I will definitely want some new tires put on, waiting to see the Pirelli Diablo Strada's (new ones due in March , think that's the name) . Definitely gonna add the K&N air filter, maybe even look at modding the airbox some. Any idea's for me? Just drop me an email if you want to share them. I'm gonna be making a list. Talk to ya'll later. |

I was hoping we could get in one more ride before you shipped out. The weather just did not cooperate. I know we can help. I have a motorcycle trailer and will take the bike wherever you need it to go. Just let me know when, and I'm sure I can handle transportation. I would leave the mechanics to Dave & Brankin though. They have much more experience than I do. P.S. Didn't you notice the way I ride? Do you really want me to get on your nice XB? |

Ayden, I haven't a clue and don't care. It's that kind of thinking that ended me and former co-worker up in a gay bar on Main St. on Daytona Beach when we were there working Biketoberfest. Hell, at that point my feeling was that any bar that had beer was my kind of place - How wrong I was that time! So you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little gun-shy. However it does sound quite similar to the Highland House - a long time tradition that ended recently in the very North suburbs of Chicago - a restaurant that would fill up on Sunday mornings with everything from an Aprilia 250 that couldn't be registered as a street vehicle (but somehow had Illinois plates) to your everyday rider Flying Brick...err, Suitcase. Depending on how early we will have to leave on Sunday, I may have to come up Saturday and spend the night. Most important question - Do you have Sunday off? SouthernMarine, It should go without saying, but whatever I can do to help you out just let me know. Down East Cycles is less than 5 miles from my house. The only thing bad about the ride is that I have to go right by New Bern H-D - those idiots! But it's not like I can let a little thing like a crappy dealer spoil my riding plans. I should be around Saturday during the day so let me know if you need me to do anything that day. 1313 |

I appreciate everything fella's. I've been hoping to get in one more ride myself. I've taken the bike to work some, but that's not much for riding. I'm thinking, that if weather permits on Saturday, I might take it out to Maple Hill one more time (gonna see if I can rig my digital camera up to video the footage), then take it up to New Bern right after that. I'll keep in touch with ya'll and let you know if I need any help. I should be good for Saturday. |

SouthernMarine, it looks as though this ride will be mostly in the morning, think you could get the Master Sgt. to give you a pass for Sunday? It's 122 mi to Micheal's according to MapQuest from Ayden. Make a bee line up 24 to Raliegh it shouldn't be much longer? Make arrangements with Down East ahead of time and either 1313 or I can get it to them on Monday morning. I'm off every Monday so I'm looking for stuff to do (get's me out of cleaning the office, or clearing the woods out back). As Brank said, he's just a few miles from them, leave the bike at his place after the ride and if you're queasy about us riding it, I'll grab M2nc's trailer, hook it to the Cherokee and haul it over. That way we get one last ride before you go. 1313, but you had fun, right? Some of my best memories come from comedic situations like yours. So you were in a gay bar, laugh and poke fun. One time we took a gay guy to a bunch of strip clubs in Newport Ky, it was a gas! He kept hitting on one of my buds who was completely clueless, to this day! Have we steered you wrong yet? Ever not had fun around us? |

Ayden, The only disconcerting thing that has ever happened while in your company was seeing all the UFO's coming back from the DC IMS show, but it was fun none-the-less. Regarding the other-thinking drinking establishment, it was more fun after we had left the drinking establishment. It was kind of funny how the bartender was eyeing up my co-worker though. So do you have this Sunday off? I think you will need to take this Sunday off in preparation for next Sunday's meeting. I think Down East may be closed on Monday's per the SOP for cycle shops down here, but it wouldn't be the first time I would be wrong. 1313 |

There is on strange phenomenon though. Either just before, or just after the IFO, there's a big boom! |

The NC East Coast Contingent - kinda, sorta, sorta, kinda - of badweb hope to arrive at Micheal's at 10:30 tomorrow. Carlos (M2nc) and I will be the only one's able to make it. It'll kind of be a practice - minus Dave (Aydenxb9) - for next Sunday's BRAG meeting at Shelton's in Goldsboro. We hope to see everyone that shows up tomorrow at Michael's and also next Sunday in Goldsboro! 1313 |

Thanks U4euh. M2nc and 1313 stopped by the dealership on the way back and they gave me all the details over dinner. Sounds like you guys had a good time. I'm waiting for 1313 to send the picture he took of all your bikes lined up in front of Spike's new house with him doing a burn-out on a Z-50!? What a way to say "hi!" to the new neighbors. "There goes the neighborhood Martha. Damn hooligans!" Hope to meet and see all of you this Sunday...... Dave |

I don't want to spoil Mike's surprise, but I can't pass up an opportunity like this. All in all, it was a normal housewarming party to me... A few riding friends... A little horsepower exhibition which results in... One's territory being marked! Looking forward to Sunday, 1313 |

Ayden is getting one started at Sheltons HD/Buell, little bit of a ride for you, but it's gonna be worth it. Come on, join in. Fella's, looks like I may not get to make it for the meeting Sunday. It's my last weekend with my family before I leave and they want me to spend time with them, me too. Hey when the meeting starts, conference call me on my cell? (Dave, Brankin, you have my numbers, if not let me know) Someone be the Group secretary and take notes of the meeting and share with me. Just because I'm deploying doesn't mean I don't want to be a part of this group. I'm in. |
