I have the Mag that that pic is in and it is a collection of pics for the 2004 race season. I take from that that that was and experiment from last year and not this years bike.

Madduck,(quote..I would buy an R if that bodywork should become available from any source.)
I'm with you on that one, And what's with the "only certain people are allowed access to these body parts?" Are they afraid that someone will make a chopper out of it? Jee'ze just do it, make a special edition, XBRR1350SP in blue, or let me do it. Blake, here's a more aerodynamic fairing.

I think the "dustbin" design was outlawed in GP because they would just take off in whatever direction the breeze decided or liftoff when cresting a hill. Turned it into the survivor wins. Somebody that really knows for sure speak up.

Dunno,

Some of you might want to read a little RR history, at least about the DS RR1200 in this issue of the Pegasus Vol. 1 No. 1, then again, maybe not. (btw ...... my scanner is broke).

The dustbin was outlawed because they didn't like the way it looked.....Must have been too far ahead of its time....

Are you serious? It had to be more than that. The potential mods for a dry commute would compensate for looks I would think.
Oh, and those links show pic's of somebody on this boards bike. I think it's Dave Guess's

Thank you. It was for sale a while back and it really had my wheels spinning. What a cool piece for special rides.

Jim (VR1203},
Thank you for posting the pic of the old Guzzi Dustbin racer. It is definitely far more aerodynamic than the RR fairing. As noted, it also precedes racing rules prohibiting fully enclosed front end designs.

And what's with the "only certain people are allowed access to these body parts?"

I suspect it is mostly that these parts are made "out back" by R&D people who are squeezing it in between making our bikes better. There is a very limited capacity to make these and you can't possibly charge enough money to cover the actual costs.

Thsi is pretty typical of "factory" racing. There are all sorts of special Honda parts that you and I can't buy but DuHamel has no trouble getting his hands on them. These parts are "rationed", go fast enough on a race track and suddenly you have the "ration card" needed to access them.

Just wish you guys would come out when the rest of us do--in sept when the weather is better and the officials much easier to deal with.--USFRA vs SCTA.And none of that stupid 3-4 hour waits in line.I did the SCTA once, really don't want to do that again.2 runs a day is crazy. What ya got this year,Wes?
(P.S.,know where there is any RR body work hiding?Still working to get that Buell over 200,need all the help I can get.)

Good read Wes,
Now I remember. Actually I remember looking at the pic in your profile last year (before we had avatars) when the news of your accomplishments came out.

Good job.

BTW, you guys took away one of our records that year. 1000cc P-PP, but hey, that's what racing is all about.

Thanks Guys1 Bonneville was definitely a riot and I fell very luck to have had the opportunity to participate...I had never done anything like that before and I hope to get back out. This year may be a little tough as I'm going for a national championship road racing on the Buell and thats going to suck up most of my time/money...We will see how Daytona goes and make a decision after that. I'm sure JDees perdormance will be out there in some form racing Buells...

The bodywork for Anna (Name stuck due to resemblence of voluptious bodywork to the 'heavy' Anna Nicole Smith...) was built off hours with the help of some talented people who work at Buell, specifically Mick Snead and Dan Alberti. Erik Buell was our go to guy, we used a lot of his ideas and he had a lot of input into the design of the bodywork. The bodywork went through 3 or 4 iterations and is very loosely based on RR1000 bodywork. We started with a RR1000 upper and tail, a bunch of fiberglass, bondo, cardboard and a bunch of SAE and Nasa tech papers. The last set we actually ran was made out of molds. In reality only about 10% of the bodywork could even be considered similar to the RR1000. The bodywork was intentionally made very heavy/strong so as not to deflect and be self supporting. obviously the bodywork was designed specifically for land speed racing a lot of compromises would need to be made to 'street' it. It did turn out beautiful though, especially on the lowered land speed bike. Worked extremely well too...171mph out of a stock displacement 984!

Jim, you might want to take a hard look at the XRTT750 bodywork sold by airtech as a starting point for your 200mph attempt. Good starting point although it will will require some work for sure. Based on all the papers i have read on the subject, the tail section is critical to get right in low drag applications, in some respects more critical than the upper. I think you could build one thats more slippery than anything currenty on the market. A good starting point would be the XRTT750 big butt seat offered by airtech.....

Cool stuff you guys are doing for sure!

Buells Rock.

That dustbin is a 'glass re-pop of the aluminum fairing from George Brown's Nero Vincent, supercharged sprint bike. About $900-1000, plus duties, by the time one gets it here, space available airfreight. Nero offered +/- 180 mph over a typical sprint course. No dustbin classes at Bonneville.

I woudl love to see side by side pictures, front, side and rear to see the diferences. Might not want to have them posted on the internet for all the competition to see but it would be interesting if someone wanted to send me a private message. Hint. Hint ; )
