Kinston Drag Strip runs 1/4 miles. Last time Ayden and I ran all out was there. He bested me by five lengths in the Nighthawk. Not bad considering I was in flying suitcase garb and this was post Race Kit XB. I will need practice with the Nighthawk too. Since I got the M2, I really haven't opened up the Nighthawk. Like the V-rod for you 1313, the NH has become transportation and two-up riding. The last heads up race I was in was on the M2 against a V65 Magna. Bested it 3 out of 3. We can do Nine runs, six each, best 2 out of 3. Just in case Ayden's transmission is "Notchy" again. |

Maxton would be cool...But I already know the V-Rod will do 133, loaded down coming back from the 100th and with the fuel delivery issues (whatever the fuel flange recall fixed) just starting to act up when I hit the Virginia Line. Don't ask me how I know this, but all I'm going to say is that I was tired, was getting very near the end of my 1,300 mile 2-day ride and just wanted to get back home. Still puzzles me why they didn't put a 6-speed in the V-Rod... 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on February 12, 2005) |

Tranny's not a problem now, but like both of you, I need to work on my launches. Kinston will be back in operation soon, and they'll probably either be on Saturdays, or Sundays. Maybe we can assemble a horde to go there and frustrate the "spec riders" with interesting bikes! |

You know, just before I posted the story about my NH running down an XB & V-rod in full glory, a little voice in my head said DON'T DO IT! This has played like a soup opera where you know whats going to happen days in advance. Nighthawk caught a XB & V-rod Doubting Thomas' would say bull sh!! Debaits would rage! Confessions and verifications! Not me syndromes! Call outs to try it again! Pokes and fun! I guess I've been here before. My original reason for posting the story was to remind anyone about to trounce on a NH, to be sure you are ready to give it all you got. I already know what an M2 & NH can do, and the M2 is hands down faster, but in motorcycles, as most of you know, machine is not enough. A notchy transmission (or a blown shift since no would believe that a Honda transmission would have such an imperfection) will find yourself in an embarrassing situation. A NH is not that much slower, and in a more capable rider's hand (or more experienced with the bike as in mine and Ayden's case at the time) machine alone will not be enough. This is what I love about Motorcycles. So now that I got that off my chest, I have only two questions. 1 - So where and when? 2 - Do I need to bring the M2 to clean house? Keep on practicing boys! |

Uh------Carlos, it's all in fun man. Of course here in this little internet world the Buell is going to be defended......duh! You and I have been having these little competitions for what, 20 years now? Have we ever let each other off the hook? Nah. It's part of the fun! Now should you bring the M2? Hell yeah! Last fall I tried to drag you down there (KDS-Kinston Drag Strip) with it but you always had someexcuse. Have we had fun with all of this in the past? Hell yeah! Will we have fun with this in the future? You bet! Let's make it a suggestion today at the BRAG meeting for an event. Buells against the Honda. Buells against the world. All I ask is a slolum at the 1/8 mark |

Where is Maxton? Plenty of long straight stretches around here, but if its close to something it could be fun. |

It's not too far from Rockingham. The East Coast Timing Association hope land speed trials there on the runway at the old Laurenburg Air Force Base. They do flying mile trials. We've talked about it before. Remember, we'd talked about even dragging the Magnum stock car down there before I sold it. Remember, we talked about how I still had the 2.55's and carrier for the rear end and it wouldn't take much to get the car ready if I could just find another complete header panel for the car? |

Maxton, NC is the home of the Eastern Carolina Timing Association. More info can be found at: http://www.ecta-lsr.com/index.htm http://www.ecta-lsr.com/schedule.htm http://www.ecta-lsr.com/faq.htm#q09 It's about 3 and 1/2 hours from me in New Bern, and is pretty close to Rockingham and the South Carolina border. 1313 |
