Received this information just the other day from my reliable sources located deep within the top-secret sub-orbital research and design center, positioned in geo-sync orbit above the mother ship..

The next Buell to hit the streets will be the all new, all cool..

CYCLONE XBC1200 & XBC1200F.
Based on a slightly larger version of the XB frame the new Cyclone will have hidden hard bag mounting points for sport touring use. The specially built bags will be lockable and capable of holding a full-face helmet in each with room to spare for gloves and a few other small items. The new frame will resemble the current 'race' frame by closing the air intake hole, allowing a larger reservoir of fuel to be carried. The bike will have at it's heart a new, 1200cc, four valve per cylinder, dual overhead cam 45* V-Twin engine producing a claimed 120bhp at the rear wheel. This new more powerful plant will pump it's power through a close ratio 6 speed transmission built for high end sport touring. 3/4-inch lower pegs allow for a more comfortable long range riding position.

An even more powerfully tuned engine, using race bread tuning and components will be called the Cyclone F-5. The F-5 will have a more aggressive riding position, with out provisions for a passenger. The F-5 is claiming an arm wrenching 140bhp at the rear wheel. Due to it's higher power output, a disclaimer and indemnity must be signed by all persons purchasing the F-5. Failure to sign such a document will cause parent company Harley-Davidson to forbid sale of the Cyclone F-5. When asked for his thoughts on the new machine, company founder and chief technology officer Erik Buell broke out in a laughing fit saying in-between breaths.. The F-5 scared the hell out of him.. But he had to build it, it was a moral imperative.

Price points for the two new machines have yet to be set, but insiders at H-D are hoping for a nice comfortable $32,000.00 per unit, however Buell company officials are looking more at a $11,000.00 MSRP.

Harley-Davidson Marketing dweeb, Rip Emoff, said a whole line of solid steel chromed parts including all fairing and frame parts is in the planning stages, as well as new chrome 'comfort' parts such as seats, grips and tires. "Uh, Wid all that powah, you need the weight of the beautiful chrome and blingin' parts so it don't get away from ya’ A special line of color matched leathers will also be produced. "We're sellin' the new Buell life style. Don't worry, we're gonna offer all the high performance stuff you'd want, including dash mounted GPS, coffee maker and 32 inch television."

Ok,... Your turn gang.. what'cha got up your sleeves..

I am absolutely overwhelmed. That is so much more than even I could have imagined.

I hope that TV is removable. I only have a 27 incher in the house now and that would be a great improvement. Is it an HDTV. Hmmmm...Must be as that would be a "Harley Davidson TV." I betcha they got a great deal on the old style sets in China while they were over there negotiating away more American Jobs.

FIrst there was the XB9 (grey frame)

Then the XB12 (Dark grey frame)

Now... The XB15! (Black frame, rims, and bodywork) The bike snorts 145 HP at the cranck and is linked to a Baker 6 speed tranny. LED guages and thumb button activated exhaust cutout for pissing off the neighbors. Factory installed 12 O'clock bar and snap on headlight, tailight covers for track days. LED turnsignals are built into the current bodywork for smooth appearance. On The Fly electronic suspension adjustment to switch between road and track conditions triggered by a dash pannel button. New sigle sided rear swingarm allows for quick swap pully for track/stunt riding. Drink holder is optional.....

Interchangeable Pulley's...Cute idea, do they come with different sized belts or just some sort of idler?

Add an optional bash plate so this new contraption can ride off the beaten path without banging the hell out of the muffler and those pulleys might come in handy. LOL

The pully tensioner would account for the different sizes. I am thinking more of being able to add tall gears for track days and short gears for Hooligan play....

If we're talking smack then I would like to point out that rotrex, if I recall correctly, is now making a lovely little blower that fits rather nicely on bikes and a couple of brit tuners are having a good ol' time of it strapping these to bikes of all shapes and sizes. This is your 150 hp buell. Not 4-valve, variable cam timed, big bore, rotary valved, or any other engineering insanity just boost sweet boost. Or maybe I need to start taking my meds again.

I run a 26 tooth front sproket. I would put on a 25 or 24 if somebody made one. I rarely ever use fifth gear. My bike just purs at 65/70 down the highway in fourth, but I would like more gearing down low.

And while I'm at it, The offering of a short stroke XB1350RR that nobody needs to spend a dime on to be able to be (reasonably)compettitive. The parts are there. They are the guys that know what works. Why the heck do they insist on everybody that tries to race one, go broke trying to figure it out for themselves. I'm impressed they spilled the beans to CycleWorld. Now if only Lotto would cooperate.

The next model will be the XBI1197TC: XB Insurable 1197cc Tourable Custom.

The engine will have 1197cc's to stay below the 1200cc magic cap, there will be a 997cc engine kit offered as well as a 598cc engine kit called the destroker kit and the ScreamingStroker kit respectively.

The Insurable aspect will be a package of frame protectors, and warning stickers, and an owners booklet stating that it's okay to ride your own ride and not race on the street and stating that getting tickets and crashing a lot can increase your insurance premiums. There will be a small first aid kit included in a special pouch placed under the seat. There will also be the appropriate helmet stickers for EMS folks telling them to not remove the helmet in the event the rider crashes.

The Tourable aspect will simply be removable hardbags and additional soft luggage.

The Custom, or "Convertable" as it will quickly become known as, will be a Harleyfied version of quick change flyscreen and windshield and fairing combos, solo seat and passenger seat and passenger backrest and rider backrest/seatbelt combos. There will also be footpeg relocators.

There will be an air ride suspension option for the rear shock that will adjust automatically to ensure full suspension travel without allowing over travel, and it will adjust static sag height automatically with the push of a button once the bike is fully loaded and the kickstand is in the up position, the clutch in, the front brake on, the passenger has his/her feet on the passenger pegs, and the engine is running with the bike in neutral. There will also be weight sensors in the front and rear to adjust the suspension proportionally. Additionally there will be, tied into the Insurable aspect, a warning indicator on the dash if the loaded weight bias is too far forward or rearward, the images are still being defined but so far the wheelie/stoppie emoticons have won approval from EastTroy and disdain from Milwaukee and a cease and desist order from Michigan. A case of 100 prototype samples of the dash plate with wheelie/stoppie emoticons that were accidentely ordered are currently in shipment via UPS packaged in a plain brown unmarked box with a P.O.Box return address and a destination to a non-disclosed basement address on Staton Island and strict instructions to not display the contents for a minimum of 7.35 years. The only exception would be for someone showing up bearing refried beans and Kringles and a 1963 Gibson L-5C guitar.

(Any similarity to any prior or later speculations, or any peoples, either real or imagined, is purely coincidental and accidental, and besides they never saw me in the tree.)

With all the major automotive manufacturer's embracing the retro craze, Buell Motorcycle Company (East Troy, WI subsidiary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company) intends to follow suit. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Buell's first use of Parkway Blue on their 1996 S2 and S2-T Thunderbolt motorcycles Buell will produce a limited number of 2006 Buell XB12R's with specially molded bodywork, color-matched to the original Parkway Blue hue. Parkway Blue - otherwise known as Barney Purple to Buell entusiasts the world over - has been the most unusual and distinctive color used on Buell Motorcycles to date. See the picture below for a spy photo of a prototype Parkway Blue 2006 XB12R caught while undergoing (what looks to be God-awful fun) testing in the desert.

That was fun! Too bad I didn't have the same level of creativity when trying to think of names for the new NC BRAG Chapter...

how about for 2006 they make a hals race replica equiped from the factory with the full faring and a paint schem like the hals bike. It would also have about 135hp like the race bike only difference being it has lights, an instumanet panael, licence plate braket, passenger seat, foot pegs, belt drive and a slightly less extreame exahst system (to make the cops happy)

Yeah.. But I would love to see a Buell Version! Call it the XBSF1350

The XB1350 Streetfigher Special Edition. It would an options package comparable to the Harley Screaming Eagle bikes they do every year. Up the cubic inches, give it a special paint job, and do a limited run. When was the last time Buell did that? 2000 with the Millinium X1, that was a sweet looking bike (but would have been even more special with factory engine upgrades). There was also Radical Paint sets offered (the grey and Red one was very sweet, even if I have never seen one on the street) and before that the racing stripe X1. I bought the Grey/Orange framed M2 just for the color. I don't feel like the XB's have been given the same design variations, I think a bike as cool as the XB is due for some sweet color combos!

This year's color changes... Yellow, Blue, and the City X. The City X is very cool but there has been no special edition for the Firebolts to date. I loved the Full Fairing Race edition idea mentioned above.

Now after saying all that, please read these comments with the understanding that I am still a Buell fan 110% and would like to see it compete in all aspects with the big four. (maybe I am just hyped up after reading the Vance & Hines drag bike victory story in Motor Cyclist)

A replica a Japanese outfit, Sundance is making.

"Too bad Buell can't come up with something like the new Mustang."

You mean they didn't? Damn, I thought the XB was it.. We’re just waiting for them to enter the 'muscle' wars and give us a 'cobra' to go along with the standard models..

Maybe a commemorative XBRR1000 - put the RR1000 style body on an XB.. Use a version of the 'race ducting' and give it digital speedo/tach that take up less room and can 'lay' inside the fairing even with the ducting being there.. Add the 1350 race motor.. And you've got something.. Deadly.. Limited and probably very, very scary to ride.. I'll take one. Even if it has to live in my garage for a while as I work up the nerve to crack the throttle open and let it run..

I would bet money on 8 piston front calipers for all the 12's next year, maybe even all the bikes.

As for fanciful speculation? How about a limited edition XB88RR (or maybe call it XBRFX). 8 piston calipers, chain drive, extended swingarm, XB9 stroke but 1350cc's, upgraded suspension, full fairing, frame slider mounts. Multi stage oil pump, oil return lines from the heads, 120 horses at the rear wheel, trapdoor tranny.

Basically, a "privateer racer from the floor" formula extreme machine that is just barely street legal. For sale for $25k, at which point it can get you onto a FX class machine for less then half of the cost of any other bike competitive in the class.

A limited run of 500 of them. 300 will be snapped up by soulless collecters, the other 200 will be giving inline fours hell all over the country.

I have a dream ; )

I'd definately look for some changes to the Blast but not an XB frame While I think a 600cc XB would be fun, it would make a HORRIBLE entry level bike. That frame just doesn't hold up to the "ooops" of a beginner rider.

Most likely, some more refinements to the XB powertrain. Also some new colors. Maybe a "limited edition" bike (i.e. White Lightning, Carbon Extreme, etc). Also look for a color change in the CityX. Those changes seem to be Buell's MO.

Unofficial Wild Guess -

Not stated by the factory, two new variations on the P3 Blast. Aimed at some of the vertically challenged sport riders and those that enjoy the nimble little bikes just because they can..

The first variation will be a more powerful engine and revamped graphics and colors. The new base version, the first true re-design of the venerable starter bike will include an updated engine and drivetrain offering the bikes a more meaty mid range and high end. A digital tachometer and new graphics that fall more in line with the rest of the line when it comes to badging of the machine. A true helmet lock and locking under seat storage tray are also being added to the machine. The 500cc engine while retaining it's mild, by sport bike standards, engine will be given more oomph through the use of a new cam, head and exhaust design. Also more sporting options, such as metallic foot pegs, and flat, racer style bars will be available. The standard and low seat versions will of course remain.

The second is a radical new variation, being referred to as the 'mini' Fighter. This mini will have a 600cc high output engine and feed a more performance tranny and final gearing, giving the bike a higher top end and more all around power. The 'mini' will also sport rear set pegs, a half fairing based on the current Firebolt design as well as clip on style handle bars, a much more aggressive rake and trail and the trade mark ZTL inverted braking system. A diminutive test rider was overheard to state.. "This thing kicks butt all the way to the ton, then smoothes out a little as you hit the upper limits of its power range. The whole time it's rock steady and holds the twisties better then the stock version ever could!" At this time no power numbers are available, however Buell designers know they have created a winner for the smaller rider that has problems fitting the 'full size' Buells. 'Racing' upgrades are also planned that could push the 'mini' from serious street fighter to vicious street stalking sleeper machine. Time will tell..

An unidentified Buell insider stated: "When I design a motorcycle as a street fighting machine, I want it to do everything you could ask it to do and do it better than anything available anywhere. To that end, we design and build real world, usable machines that are just so much fun to ride it's unreal. This isn't a wannabe-racing bike. It's like a compact little storm trapped inside a rigid frame that puts a ton of torque right where you need it.. On the road."

Several independent dealers were heard to state 'How the hell do you get someone to trade that little starter monster for a real bike?' And 'We can't sell those.. They don't have any hard bags or chrome on them.. I mean, sure, if they put some fringe on the fairing and maybe lowered those insane pegs you could sell one..' Another dealer chimed in, 'Yeah! Add some paint, chrome and stretch out that fork some, lean back the seating position.. And de-tune it some, then we can sell those.' ... An unidentified, longhaired motorcycle salesman from Wisconsin was heard giggling and counting all the sales he was about to make with the new Blast family of bikes...

See.. Follow this thread and all the best non-sense wishing and rumors can show up!
