But if Buell won't make money on a sport tourer there is NO reason to make one. So there are people out there buying sport touring bikes. Yay. If there aren't enough that would choose a BUELL sport tourer, then it isn't relevant... Go buy some other sport tourer. If Buell made one for you, Buell would most likely lose money. When you want a sport bike... Buy a Buell . |

If they were to lose money on the sport touring model that would cause them to jack up the price of the other bikes to compensate... Would anybody want that? I guess I don't understand the whole sport touring thing anyway. I got softbags and a corbin backrest for my wife on my M2, but that's about as far as I want of go with it. When I ride, I rarely throw the bags on and almost always ride with the stock seat. The V-twin motor just begs to be on a naked style bike. (Ultra's suck!) I rode an electraglide once and it was like I was driving a bus. No wind, no feeling, NO FUN! If you enjoy high speed riding with tons of luggage, buy a Kawaski or some other souless motored bike. Buell doesn't belong in that group. ERIK BUELL NEVER RACED A BIKE WITH BAGS! (Message edited by koz5150 on February 01, 2005) |

Hmmm, everyone seems to have forgotten the Buelltiful S2 series. They came with Harley controls and thus, have the throttle thumb screw for a throttle lock. Does this make my S2 a sport tourer? Don't know, I do know I put 150,000 miles on one S2 criss crossing this country and never once thought it would be more fun on a cruiser OR a sport tourer. |

>>>They came with Harley controls and thus, have the throttle thumb screw for a throttle lock. Close, but a tad inaccurate. The Buell came with the HD lower right control housing (P/N 71563-82A) which came, for the prior 13 years with a thumbscrew in the HD line. On the Buell, it came with a hole that would accomadate the thumbscrew. Most were so modified. Court |

Kaz - Tell me about the carbon fiber back rest you mentioned. It sounds interesting. I guess my question is where, what and how much. |

I dig it now. I like the later model color schemes. Take picture when you finish polishing. |

(Hmmm, thinking I need to go look for a hole in the S2 when I get home tonight. Wonder what other features are on there that I don't realize yet.) Corbins are nice, but pricey. |

Actually Steve, if you don't mind I may be much more interested in your Frame protectors. I have a track day coming up! |

Koz, no problem, I still have to get the real price of materials, and post them. Life I've mentioned earlier, I'm quite busy at work, for about another week and a half. Then I'll be ready to start machining them up. And I'll do both the sprocket and the frame sliders for ya. I'm going to be setting up to do Lake's sprocket sometime late the week. So if you can get your sprocket to me by then, I can easily do it. |
