Heard that it's suppose to get 150mpg. I think it would be cool to have a diesel bike. |

You'd only need a 3 speed box for that, it'd pull like a train. I'd be interested in a roadster version tho'. Daihatsu used to make a 3 pot turbo-d too, I saw one grafted into a mini once, many years ago, the performance was better than original, & the fuel mileage was astounding for the time. I've been thinking for a while that with the advances in diesel technology it's only a matter of time before someone produces a quick diesel bike. Nice to see somebody with the vision/madness to pursue the idea. |

They claimed power output could be boosted to about 250 ft. lbs. of torque. Stick a 4 gallon tank on it and make it a sport tourer. 600 mile range should do just fine Henrik |

What if it sounds like a tractor? Wouldn't that be very uncool? I mean, if it sounds anything like my car .... |

And the smell! I'm sorry, but I have no desire to stink like a on the road trucker. It seems like the diesel fumes would just saturate everthing...your clothes, your hair, your skin... |

That is too funny! Can't make head nor tail of that. Alright, here is a slightly better translation: At the MotorRAI 2004 the Star Twin Thunderstar 1200 TDI will be officially shown at the Kicxstart stand to the public for the first time. The Thunderstar 1200 TDI is a 3-cylinder, turbo diesel motorbike. This is the first motorbike to combine the power and efficient fuel consumption of modern diesel engines with the weight, speed and handling characteristics of todays hypersport motorbikes. The motorbike is developed by Kees van der Starre and engineer Jeroen Bernart from Star Twin Motors in Loenen, built mainly with dutch products and the help of dutch companies. The Thunderstar is designed in a 3D CAD program before it was assembled. The Thunderstar is assembled with top of the bill products like super light weight WP Grand Prix front fork and shock, Bueautiful carbon rims from BST and good brakes from PFM and a modern quality built frame and home amde carbon fairing. The Thunderstar is at a showcase to get an impression of the interest in such a fast, diesel sportsbike. This coming year Star Twin expects to get a dutch license plate on this prototype and make the first rounds on an international race track and do long distance races. If, how and when the bike will be in production depends on the interest and reactions of the public and companies. The Thunderstar can be seen at stand number 09.021 of Kicxstart.

Hmmmmm. Maybe lower the displacement, then run the Daytona 200 with it. Not too fast, but with great fuel economy, what if you could do the whole 200 with NO pit stops? Okay, enough of that..... |

I believe there was a diesel entry in the Indianappolis 500 many years ago. Try to google it. It came in 13th place if I remember correctly. I believe its respectable finishing position was due to its lack of need for refueling pit stops. |

One of the great upsets of all-time. Cummins Diesel wins the pole with a car that weighs 3,250 pounds in a Kurtis chassis. The cumbersome weight of almost 3,300 pounds (compared with around 1,800/1,900 for the others) all but wore out a set of tires just qualifying. It managed to hold 4th in the race until rubber and oil from the race track blocked up the turbocharger at lap 71. It was the first turbocharger in the "500," preceding initial use on an Offy by fourteen years. |

Tucson, I am a truck driver & I resemble that remark! "I love the smell of a Diesel in the morning" I own an Alfa-Romeo 164 turbo diesel, big 4 dr sedan, front wheel drive, 2.5l 4 cyl. When they came out a couple of guys cleaned up on the saloon car racing circuit with one, until the governing bodies changed the rules to put them back in their place. How many times have we heard that story? If the Star Twin does go endurance racing, how long before the big boys start whining that they're at a disadvantage on fuel stops & have the rules changed? |

Q, where are you going to put the propane tank? A, Option 1. under the seat, so it can blow your a**e off! Option 2. between motor & rear wheel, so it can blow your b***s off! Option 3. on top of motor in standard tank position, so it can blow your head off! Answers on a postcard please, to the usual address, winner gets a raspberry. |
