Buell enthusiast or no. In the 7K miles I have had the bike, I had to replace the clutch cable. That is it. Judge for yourself. I don't count nails in the tire though! |

Cause you haven't ridden your Buell in years and let it sit in pieces and seek at every turn to post views contrary to those of the other Buell enthusiasts here. You know, the ones who would recommend a Buell over an antique FZR without hesitation. |

11,000 miles in 8 months -- 100 miles a day roundtrip on the SoCal freeways and the canyons on the weekend. I've taken off and added a ton to the bike and it's rewarded me with nothing but smiles. I love my bike. Get 'er. Chris |

Court (or anyone else on the board), do you have any references (e.g., surveys) to back up XB reliability claims? I don't need any convincing...I bought my 12S after lurking on this board for a while...but I know a couple riders who'd consider an XB except they're unconvinced of the reliability factor. |

seek at every turn to post views contrary to those of the other Buell enthusiasts here. ???? You having a bad day again? How was what I posted contrary to what other Buell enthusiasts would post or recommend?? Did I tell him to snag the 14 yr old probably beat to hell yammy?? And you know why I havent ridden my Buell so we wont go there, but I have ridden others. Hell I drove halfway across the country to ride Mavericks Millinuem X1. 300 miles out to Iowa to test ride an XB9, etc. Seek the light & have a great day. |

Subjectively, the input on reliability for the XB that I have seen over the past year here would rank it as very high indeed. I don't see that as biased as while I love my bike, I would be fine about slamming it if it was a clunker. The other side of the coin is, if folks had a clunker, they would likely not be on this board, but more likely to have sold that clunker. Too bad we don't have JD Power to resolve this issue. |

>>>Too bad we don't have JD Power to resolve this issue. Manufacturers track warranty $$ per unit made if I am not mistakable. I'm commencing some research for a piece I am currently writing. I've got the anecdotal and subjective...now I am going in search of the objective. I expect to be thrilled at what I find. Court |

Still no PC... Too bad if he went with a 14 yr old motorcycle over an XB. I just turned over 10k and have just done the services and normal wear items (on my 3rd rear tire). Evertime I fire it up I get a big ole grin! |

Well, I went with the Buell. Picked it up last night. It had been dumped, so it does need some cosmetic work on a few pieces, such as the clutch/brake levers, rear brake lever, etc. It didn't start up right away and it turned out the plugs were fouled. Changed out the front plug. Guy said the are notorious for this if it isn't started and run correctly because of the fuel injection. He indicated this isn't a bike you start up and run for 30 seconds so your neighbor can listen to it. |

Not many bikes are. Mine will do the same thing. It is a high performance engine. Gotta treat it a little bit differently. Congratulations! Where are you located Mark? |

Any mods done to it PC? BTW, Daves, I did my suspension per the book and it seems ok. Anything else that you could help to maybe fine tune it some more or no? (Message edited by cataract2 on December 18, 2004) |

I'm in Richmond, Virginia. As for mods, it does have an aftermarket exhaust. I've read that the suspension setup is really important. The dealer actually said to take it to a shop and have them adjust the rear while I was on the bike to account for my weight. I'll keep you in mind Dave, as I will need some parts for it. |

No problems until that car hit me and totaling my bike but the car got towed too! Had 29,890 miles of hard riding, high taching, rev. limiter hitting, hanging with the big boys like Rc51, R1, Gigsters, ducks and many more. Nothing like the sound of thunder! Hope my new bike proves to be the same. Ride safe and keep the rubber side down. Think twice save your own life! |
