I need to know if the length on a 2001 m2 is the same as the 98 s3. I need to replace my shock from my s3and I have a chance to get the one from the m2. thanks |

It is the same length. Kinda. There is an early showa and the latest showa that is shorter. The spring rate for the S3 shocks were higher. That helpful? no. |

If you have the original shock on your S3 then no the shock from a 01 M2 will not be the same, it will be 2 inches shorter. You will need to get a new front mounting bracket as well as the new shock to install it. |

I just have to say this has been shocking. I just showa up asking for a little a tension, and you all spring at me from all sides. It would be a scary thing to have all of you in the same room with a fireplace, rain outside, free beer, and barbeque. You know that don't sound half bad. Thanks for the info |

This is an absorbing conversation, but I don't want to dampen the flow of dialogue, so I'll suspend any further comments. |

How is it that such a reservoir of shockingly brilliant minds can find return in such conventional prosaic free-play? It seems so upside down, yet we spring forth undamped. Does it stroke overloaded egos? Probably doesn't mean squat. |

You guys are FUNNY.... but this thread appears to have come progressively unwound. It behooves me to preload it to it's intended ride height, rather leave it underdamped and unsprung to wobble and bob along without control on it's perilous, frothing path of degenerated performance.
