I presume this has already been covered on here, but apparently my search technique needs some improvement....

I'm looking for info on physical size differnce(s) from the tuber/sporty motors to the later rubber-mounted Buells - I have a chance to get a XB motor for a reasonable price and would like to drop this into a sporty frame...certainly I know that there is some fab involved, but would like to get a better feel for what I'm getting into prior to making the commitment.

XB motor uses different mounting system on rear of cases than the tube framed bikes.Don't know if you can use it in a Sporty.Dimensions otherwise similar.

Thanks - do you know if that rear deal is the same as the 2004 sportys? - I know of a guy who cut that "tab" and was able to use the "stock" 4 bolts off the trans, which, I'm led to believe are still there.

I don't know for sure but the oil filter location might cause you some trouble.

There is no mount on the back.
The XB swing arm mounts directly to the back of the motor.
You would need to fab a mounting system to adapt a rear mount, there is a mount where the rubber mounting goes on the XB motor.
