well its been a while since I had a belly full of courage and a heart bfull of rock and roll and a load of rage and a rememberence of what music is supposed to be.

It ain't about how many records sold....its about rage , fun, political stance (either side)and balls too the wall creative energy. They don't make to many albums like that any more. everything is a disguiesed commercial for a car company or sneakers or some other bull crap.

GET GREEN DAY "AMERICAN IDIOT"

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BEST ALBUM SINCE NEVERMIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if you like country, rock hip hop...whatever....Billy joe and company have purged themselves on the alter of rock and roll and truth......it will take you on a journey....like a book or a good movie will.....its almost a concept album....best played at a high volume.....

this ain't the matrix bull crap of the future this is today and it is happening now....it ain't the internet and chat rooms filled up with everyones stupidity and mis information....it don't take sides of who's right and wrong.....its pure, its real, it's heart felt......it is in the company of highway 61 reveisted....born to run....damn the torpedos....never mind the bullocks.....anything by the ramones....stranger in town....scarecrow....this land is your land....sticky fingers....let it be.....you name it.....this is the album of the year and possibly the decade......

no I ain't drunk so put that aside......this is rock and roll as its supposed to be....mind , hearts and soul!!!!!! pete townsend should be happy....so should mick and keith and joe and steven, johnny and sid...joey and the boys...and lennon and macartney.....especially lennon....I know he is smilin in his grave.........

wake the f&^k up and go get it....it is just that damn good

I'll get it tomorrow! I have always liked Green Day.

Thanks for the tip, Buckinfubba. You do understand that the album is somewhat political and not very kind to the current situation. Make sure and vote on Tuesday. Maybe Kerry can win Indiana after all!

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Green Day bites in my opinion. Go back and listen to the Real punk they are ripping off. I really hope the Internet kills the recording industry and stops them from shoving this formulaic crap down our throats. Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Ramones. Oh course, this is just my opinion which I find to mean jack squat even to myself. It is like me watching The Mummy or King Solomons Mines cuz I am jonezing for a new Indiana Jones flick.

m2

the political mindset of the record is really more or less beating up on the media more so than any political party.

and as far as green day being punk rock....well I have never seen them as a punk band but just a good rock and roll band....just as the ramones were one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever....but the sex pistols were a joke...dide you ever see "the great rock and roll swindle"

they were a fashion statement at best...and the clash...one of the greats....nothing to defend there

I agree Buckinfubba.

American Idiot by Green Day is the best punk album I've heard in a long, long time. I listened to it on a 200 mile ride on Sat., and it was a fun soundtrack to rail through some corners with.

It is not the greatest music (nuanced or deep) in the world, but too many CDs have one or two good songs with a lot of filler. This one is entertaining front to back. That's rare in this day and age.

Too many artists phone it in to make a few bucks (I offer you the latest Cure album as a prime example. Just heartbreaking). You can tell Green Day worked hard on this record and took some genuine chances. It shows.

I highly recommend this album if you like fast and fun music. I don't think it targets any particular political party; rather, I believe it attacks the bigger cultural apathy in America that produces our politicans.

Is it the best concept album? I don't know. Operation Mindcrime (Queensryche) is still my favorite.

Best punk album ain't saying a heck of alot.:-)That is like saying this pile of dog doo doo is better then that pile of dog doo doo.Check out the 1st Jimi Hendrix album or The Beatles Revolver album or even The Creams Desraeli gears album. These are true masterpieces. Heck it took an entire two weeks in the recording studio for both Hendrix and the Cream combined to record those masterpieces.

Regards
Mike

Look to the future of punk, kids, and you will find it emanating from Colin Powell's "New Europe"... GOGOL BORDELLO
gogol bordello
Fronted by a crazy Ukrainian, backed by Slavs and American Jews, your mind & body will reel to this NYC Balko-Gypsy-punk ensemble. By all means go to a live show if you can. "Think Globally, F*ck Locally!"

Unfortunately most of the current music is homogenized krapola !
imo

Yes, lots of great bands, wouldn't consider Green Day to be one of them. Not into that scene.

I have been a Metal head since I was a kid. I remember real bands like KISS, Dokken, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Blackfoot, Dio, Iron Maiden, Overkill, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, S.O.D., Anthrax, M.O.D., Sepultura, Crowbar, Death Angel, Metallica(early stuff), and many more I just can't remember off the top of my head.

Newer good music would include Fear Factory(new and old), Static-X, Shadows Fall, the purposly contraversial Slipknot, Mushroom Head, Snot, Sevendust, Danzig, Staind, Mudvayne, Audioslave, Spineshank, and many more.

To each his own though.
