These Pirelli's frustrate me. They sure are excellent tires and they give me more confidence than the stock dunlops, but I can't get rid of the 1/2" chicken strips on both sides  , and I'm certain I'm going a LOT harder than with the stock dunlops. Anyone else had that? It makes sense though 'cos the Pirelli's are narrower ... | ||

Ingemar it isn't so much that the profile is narrower, but that the curve is more rounded giving a better contact patch over into the lean. | ||

If anyone gives you crap, have the guts to punch them in the nose, then see if they have the guts to stand back up... No don't do that. Do a track day save about one speeding tickets worth of insane riding money a month and do a track day. It will teach you to ride a lot better and encourage you actually to ride a little slower on the street. | ||

I followed Erik Buell one afternoon through twisties around Taos,leaned more in corners than I thought possible at the time,but figured gravity and physics worked the same for both of us,so if he made it,I just gritted my teeth and followed.Quite the eye opener---and way fun!! | ||

LOL - one normal ride to Stinson beach from SF will take you to your tires edges, then theirs that road Coart mentioned - the Grade - lol - nice, just too many good roads here in Nor Cal to ride all the time - lol - God knows I try - think I'll cruise the coast south today - have fun! Ingemar, Alas, I could not get rid of my 1/2 in stripes either, until, the Battletrax. That day, I scuffed the pitchforks off the devils! Can't wait for a trackday to ride the forks at speed! | ||

For the Scorpians, I have the back strip gone (just normal riding, not trying to impress anyone) and the front still has like a 1/4 inch, and that rubber is pretty much pure vertical. Don't know if it will be touched for normal riding. Anyone try putting 170's instead of 180's on the rear? Thats probably still more then enough rubber for a 9, and might lighten up the handling. | ||

There are only 2 places I've been able to use the entire tire. 1) Track 2) Battletrax I don't even try getting that low on the road. The reward isn't worth the risk (IMHO). | ||

The M1s I have (Same profile as the Diablos) have been all the way over just riding in the mountains. Nothing hyper-legal either, just leanin' n grinnin'. | ||

Im with some of the above, the safest/best way to explore the edges of tire adhesion is on the track ! Or even better, a riding school @ a track ! (Message edited by bluebuellxb9r on November 02, 2004) | ||

Don't fret. I've got a 1" raised rear end and 1" raised pegs. I've ground my boots on the ground and still have 1/4" chicken strips. I'd agree that you'd have to be fairly insane top lose 'em on the street. Excellent tires, though. Mine are a bit long in the tooth but still working well. I've got Corsa's and they've outlasted all manner of Dunlops, even sport-touring compounds. | ||

There are some roads around here (89A/The Spars up to Prescott) that are tight enough and banked to get the edges of the Pirelli's without being hyper legal as well and without great risk. But otherwise Ingemar might I suggest any sphincter removal shop to get ride of that soiled pants feeling? | ||

the right road will definatly do the trick, i have scrubbed rail to rail on dome good old fashion idaho mt roads without an effort. By that i mean no leg hang just more push and some butt shift. | ||

I've got a lot...about 4000 street miles. They have very little highway mileage and I try to travel everywhere as to get more miles on the sides. To be honest I'm a poor and cheap bastard and run 'em to the wear markers. The front tire is worn evenly all 'round but the rear is getting pretty thin in the middle. They have much less grip straight up than new but still have plenty of bite on the sides. In all honesty I probably need new tires...  | ||

Damn...I wish I had made it to that event. Cursed Rain! I want my suspension checked so bad it is killing me and I don't know anyone locally that I trust with the fine tuning of the suspension. Anyone have any suggestions in the SE Wisconsin area I can go to get my suspension checked and set? | ||
