They're pretty much on par with the Alpine Star Roam boots.

Not racing boots so no armor although they've got good support.
Much better than my Joe Rocket Revolution boots.

$140something with my BRAG discount.

I like them! How are they sized? American (i.e. 9, 9 1/2, 10, etc.) or European (43, 44, 45,etc.) How's the fit? Are they waterproof? More details!

American sizes.
Made by Harley-Davidson.
The nine fits me just fine.
Ain't rained yet, but I'll let you know, although I don't think they are, but I've been wrong before.
I ordered them when everyone was in San Diego for the dealership thing. I wonder why they're not on the web site.

The most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned were the HD engineer type. I don't know who makes their boots for them, but they do a fine job. Too bad I just bought new boots, cuz I'd love a set of those.

Made by Harley-Davidson? Huh? Last time I looked at their boots, they were all made in China.

I have some Joe Rocket Revolution boots similar to the Buell shoes, made in Romania.

Doesn't anyone in the USA make a decent boot for us?

Hmm...I have those Revo boots. What makes you say the Buell ones are better, Glitch? Is the sizing the same between the two? You mentioned a 9 in the Buell, what size Revo did you wear?

(Don't need new boots, just curious...well, I DO, but not calf boots...)

Amazing, Daves must be the only hunter in Ohio who carries a computer terminal into the woods with him. : )

Glitch,
Nice find. I didn't even know they were going to sell boots. Guess I'll have to wander down to the post Christmas inventory clearance sales at the local dealerships in December and January and see what they have.

What makes you say the Buell ones are better
They fit me better, they're better made. I never wear the same size boots between manufactures. These are a nine, the JR are a nine, I couldn't get my big toe in a Alpine Star nine...
if the hd boots are made by wolverine then why arent they as ugly as the regular wolverine boots with those flat looking soles
'Cause these are made for Buell not HD?
I didn't even know they were going to sell boots.
I just happened to be at Pete's desk when someone at the San Diego meeting called and asked if they order any, we said yes please. They just came in this week, I guess we ordered them before they were out.

prof_stack - I have to agree. When I'm paying $150 for a pair of boots, I find it hard to believe that they couldn't be made in the US. I mean how much of that $150 is actually going to the person who makes the boot? $10?

Years ago I bought a pair of shoes made by Wolverine with an insole that proudly proclaimed "MADE IN USA".

Later when the shoe began to wear, the insole came loose and underneath was the message that said that shoe was "MADE IN CHINA".

Guess how many Wolverine shoes I have purchased since? (Hint: its the same as the Yankees' wins over their last four games...)

Made in the USA, custom options, re-buildable. Damn fine boots. No armor like in a racing boot though...but, If one were to proposition them, it is a custom built boot company...

>>>I'm on vacation and don't have the info here.

Dave...either frickin' HUNT or I am going to cut your hair!

I am, at the moment, wearing a snappy set of Red Wing boots. They are quite nice, have all the options and afford great protection.

When I was climbing poles for a living, I wore West Coast Lineman's boots. They worked great as well.

Cheap boots are a myth. But, in the same vein, the Monolo Bankrupt's these chicks buy have yet to convince me that a tiny size 6 anything is worth what they pay.

Moral of the story: Itailian shoes and motorcycles compromise value for glizty design.

On the other side of the coin, it was nearly worth it when the tourist from Kansas City cornered Vickie, screaming "oh my gosh, are they real?". She's seen them on Sex in the City and thought the Blahnik's were an imaginary brand.

For riding boots....well, I still wear the good ol' Italian Gaerne but I dig the style of those Buell boots.

i am wearing Danner boots. the model Acadia at work, and the Fort Lewis everywhere else. both pairs are on the third set of vibram soles. these are made in America, and are well worth the asking price. I have a nice pair of Alpinestars for longer rides ( say over 400 miles) they are made in Italy, and appear to be very nicely crafted. wife has some SIDI ladies touring boots, also very nicely made in Italy. they go well with her Ducati M620. You can still find very high quality footwear, just dont expect to find it at walmart or the local harley boutique.

I once owned a pair of Nacona lizard foot western boots made in Texas allegedly on the same lasts and by the same methods as 100 years earlier. It claimed in the brochure no metal was used in the boots construction except for the steel shank which was rubber coated. To hold the shank in place wooden pegs were utilised.
Apparently the brochure further claimed, leather and metal are highly corrosive parked next to each other so nails were NOT used anywhere in the boots construction.

Several years later, and very well cared for, the heel became detached from the upper. It was clear to see, apart from the fact they were beyond repair, that metal nails were used to attach the upper to the heel in a 'horse shoe' pattern. The leather had rotted the bad it was the end.

Bearing in mind what the little brochure had told me, I called Nacona. They were very helpful and said I should return the boots no matter how old they were and they would replace them if they were beyond repair. Worth the £17 shipping then. Several weeks later the boots were returned to me. Inside the packaging was a computer printed note stating no action necessary. Suffice to say the boots remained un-repaired nor were they replaced.

I called Nacona back. I talked to a guy who claimed he had worked for Nacona for a very long time and more years than anyone else. He said the damaged boot was worn out. I pointed out to him the condition of the rest of the boot, and the other boot, referred him to Nacona's booklet and the metal nails, and asked him what if anything he was prepared to do for me seeing as the point of failure was due to metal nails. He claimed Nacona had never had a pair of boots returned ever and they were not at fault. I remained dumbfounded. Suffice to say, I've never bought another pair of Nacona's but I have bought other brands.

Made in America is just as good, or bad, as made in China or Chelsea.

I have Sidi's On the Road boots. They did cost mucho $$$$ (240worth), but have been 100% waterproof and after a long breakin period, very comfortable now. They can also be re-soleable by Sidi. But being a sucker for stuff with Buell logo's on them, I may consider a pair of these new boots for a second choice. By the way, Woodstock HD just got them in at $149; that is before any local BRAG club discount (10%).

MikeJ,
I'm hunting in Iowa not Ohio.

Court,
I can't hunt in the dark. I'm going back out in a few minutes.

Sgt,
The dealer meeting is in Dallas for the next couple years so no more Dave's coming to Orlando gatherings for now. Sorry.
