It sounds like your ball and ramp is popping out of place. |

Could be, if the bearings have worn the tracks deep the ball and ramp may not be putting enough pressure against the Diaphram spring to get the plates to release. |

What did you do recently to clutch?Check cable to be sure its not frayed/breaking and the adjuster nuts are not hanging apart. How is the adjustment at the bar? What does the cable look like where it goes in the clutch cover? |

take the four screws out of the derby cover and watch what the ramp is doing while you pull the lever. pay attention to how it is assembled. tim |

I'd say its just out of adjustment or somehow assembled wrong. Go to the Knowledge Vault and see the S1 Service Manual, post us some pictures. Its hard to diagnos the problem if we cant see what's happening. With that assembly you turn the adjuster screw all the way in then back it out about quarter turn. Just make sure its assembled correctly. |

nossir you don't -- slow down, read the S1 manual posted here, and make sure the clutch is adjusted correctly -- cheaper to spend time than money -- just remove the derby cover, and you'll have all the access you need to check out the ball and ramp assembly |

yeah i just tryed adjusting it acouple of times i checked everything on the bike the ramp assembly and everything and nothing is wrong with it. i hear the popping coming from inside of the clutch pack so im guessing something went wrong inside of the clutch mechanism. i just talked to the guys were i bought it from and they said theyll fix it at no charge i just need to send it over there and theyll fix it so im workin on taking out the basket and everything right now as we speak. so ill let u guys know what happens |

Was the clutch problem there before? If not then something is not put back together properly. Have you read the S1 manual? I recently had a problem with the clutch in my DR650 and it was grabbing. I wont get into what was actually wrong however, the point I want to make it that I had the damm thing apart about 10 times before I realized what was actually wrong. I had read the manual over and over, took the bits out and assembled as per the order in the manual numerous times and still no go. Finally turned out to be a scored washer that goes between the parts of the basket, the rough edges were causing the assembly to stick. A very simple, identifiable problem BUT because I was so frustrated it clouded my vision. Take a couple hours and clear your mind, then go out and do a step by step re-assembly inspecting each and every piece that is coming out, comparing it to the exploded view in the ONLINE S1 MANUAL Its the same clutch pack. I actually have a computer in the garage with the manual on it and is it ever the best thing I put in the garage - NOT COUNTING THE S1. Be patient and I am sure you will figure it out. Post pictures of the assembly as you have it together - someone here may be able to see the problem. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh set of eyes. |

You probably have the adjuster in the ramp screwed in too much. back it off, then turn it in until it JUST tightens. You'll feel it. Use the adjustment in the cable to set the play in the lever. |
