Yup, that is my local trackday track. They just got done doing a ton of construction nearby and are just getting ready to build more new houses. From what I understand the track officals aren't real thrilled about it since its also used for the Bob Bondurant school and they are reporting a rash of nailed tires in their CTS student cars that stay at the track.

Ouch,
That looks as bad as when I got a yard dart through my foot when I was a little kid. I could only walk in circles.

On a serious note, if you race and go down hard enough to require medical attention does that come out of your pocket?

I know you're OK during track days because you are not racing for cash or prizes at least that's what I've been told.

There is insurance available for racers. You should also read the clauses for your motorcycle insurance as they too don't count trackdays as being covered.

Thanks Wyckedflesh,

It will be worthwhile to investigate this over the winter, in preparation for a busy track day season next year.

Do you happen to know a company that racers use?

I use Progressive for my insurance and can purchase "Race" insurance as a seperate policy. You might try picking up or looking through some of the racer magazines like Road Racing World to see who is advertised in there.

I hit a bird once at about 75, caught me at the top of my helmet. I had to pull over because I felt pretty dizzy, much faster I'm sure it would have put me down for the count, not a good thing when your moving. Nail at 160, that's just plain freaky.
