OK.. I modded the stock muffler over the weekend (see the XB board post) So far so good...anything aboue 37-4000 rpm is absolutely great! The bike runs like mad in that range. It even gets better mileage than before. Now, my questions. Does the race ECM really give the bottom end torque range back while keeping the top end performance? I have read a lot of negatives on the board concerning driveability problems with the race ECM's. How much is the thing and where is the best place to buy it? Our dealer, although he has tons of Buells on the floor, doesn't really speak "Buellish". It took three techs and 40 minutes just to order a spare set of keys. Any input bad or good is appreciated! Only 3 techs and 40 minutes? You don't expect to get keys that work do you? Oz |

The the problem ECMs are mostly on the 12's not the 9's. The race ECM on the 9 is well sorted. DaveS can help you with the Race ECM. |

Wycked: Cool I'll drop Dave a line and see what happens. How does the race perform from say stopped up to that magic 4000? Nick |

my sons 04 xb12s is stock. my oldest friend has a 04 xb12r with factory race kit. in a 50 mph top gear roll on, the the stock bike walks away till about 4000 rpm, then the race kit equipt bike takes off. the race kit bike seems to have a bigger advantage from 4000 to 6500 than the stock bike has from idle to 4000. i recommend the race kit. you do loose a little bit on the bottom but you gain more midrange. at redline i think you only gain about 1 hp. i watched this up close and personal from the seat of my spottster when the three of us rolled on. |

Seeing I've ridden a XB12S with a race kit and own a XB12S that I at first put a Drummer on for a few months and now have a D&D on it,I can say I was disapointed in the race kit right from the gitco.when I road the race kitted bike thats all that was out at the time. Then Bubba and Kevin came out with the Drummer and I threw one on after Gearloose Guinea pigged one on his 12 and it worked.I liked the Drummer no hole down at the bottom. Then I wanted some noise so I put the D&D on power is great and it sounds awesome. |

Vegas, I don't think the race ecm will do much or anything for the lost bottom end. I've been wrong before though. |

Race ecm,air filter and 12 airbox along with the muffler of your choice seems to be the best combo. I'll be back at work tomorrow. Going to the track today! Dave 1-866-757-1651 ask for Dave in the sales dept! |

Thanks guys, and I'll give you a shout this week Dave. Like S1, I want to keep the noise, so I'll stick with my creation on the muffler, but the 12 airbox cover and the ECM will be a definate in the future. |

Vegas the Race ECM may not be your answer. You may infact have to buy a proven performance muffler to get the job done. |
