I have an appointment next week with the local Yamaha-Suzuki dealer. The owners uncle owns a H-D/Buell Establishment so he says he'll make a killa deal for me on either a Hayabusa or Yamaha R1(2004) to keep my XB company. Any thoughts??(What's a good deal??) and...Nooo, I'll never love my XB any less!! Used to own a CBR so I'm considering another rocket as my 2nd bike! |

Buy another Buell, you'll live longer! Just kidding .. I would go with the Busa. On another note...just to be an antagonist, my custom tag from the DMV will more than likely say"BusaBtr" |

Depends on what you will use the bike for. If its an around town & sometimes track machine..go with the R1. If you prefer longer weekend rides where comfort is of more importance, get the Busa. |

I say get the Busa, because I think your XB is great for the track days and the twisties, so you could compliment it with a straight line go fast sport tourer. Besides, this place is only big enough for one R1'r And, in case you really have to, my wifes step Dad does pretty damn well on the track (Fontana) on his Busa. |

Crip...I know this isn't on the current menu, but I would be begging for a gray market MT-01. Other than that, Dyna made my case with his recommendations. |

I`d go with the R1 for the curves or aggressive riding. The Busa can be a great sport tourer and you can get really good deals on used ones. They haven`t changed much in couple of years and are bulletproof. They are both incredible bikes. |

My wife has been wanting a Busa for a couple years now. In a few months we may look at picking up a decent low mileage one. |

Get a R1 it isn't as fast as the Busa or Blakes M2 but it handels a million times better than the Busa. But it is pretty cool to say you have 200HP under your butt! |

Plus..since when did a Busa have 200hp??? I know the ZX12R's can get into the upper 170's low 180's with a pipe, pc & a good tuneup. But havent heard of any Busa's with such mild mods hitting more than that. |

A Riding buddy of mine has a 220 H.P Busa But he had his whole enginge redone and worked over. I can't remember what year it is but I'm pretty sure it was the model before they governed them But with the mods it really didn't matter anyway. Cool Bike! |

The R1 has no counter balancer and has a nasty vibration at 4000 rpm that puts a Sportster to shame. This is, by the way, the most commonly used range on the 02-03 models. The 04's has shorted stroke and I have been the vibration is now less intense but by no means gone. Unfortunately I've never gad the pleasure of riding a Suzuki or Honda to see if the couter balancer really does anything. |

The 04 R1 has a vibration or buzzing you can feel in the bars from about 5000rpms to 5500rpms. Nothing annoying though. |

Blake, my XB12 is MUCH faster than a Hayabusa. (With me on the 'busa and Valentino Rossi on the XB12, heh heh) |

Hmmmmmm...Not liking what I'm hearing about either bike! Wondering if I should just pick up another CBR? My other one rode real smooth and turned great only it was a 600 F4I. ...Wonder if I should just get a bigger one????(I hate vibration and I hate hard turning bikes!!) The vibes arent anything worth mentioning. And the R1 is a fantastic handling bike. Have you considered a ZX10R? Awesome machine as well. |

Busas(like old tube frame Buells) are built like tanks and can handle a crash. R1s frames are very light and will bend/break if crashed at anything more than a parking lot lowside. If you never crash it will not be a concern but it is something to consider. |

And don't forget the Gixxer 1k is all new this year too...and the CBR1000RR...almost forgot the new Triumph ST looks like it'd be a sweet sport tourer! Like Dyna said, hard to find a bad one in the crop. Wish I had your dilema! |

I just sold my Busa last year,I had a '99 first year they came out, and loved it, before that I had a R1. Busa's get a bad rap for handling, until you ride one. I have never felt safer on a bike at triple digit speeds than my Busa. The Busa just feels planted and stable,I also had a McExpress turbo on it. as far as handling goes it is very similar to a Gsxr 1100 if not better. You would be very happy with either bike, The R1's are very nice bikes too. If I was going for comfort and aftermarket ect.. I would definitely go Busa. www.suzukihayabusa.org or www.hayabusa.org for additional information. If you are looking at an insane bike for around the twisties etc.. I would get a Ninja ZX-10. Mucho Power and very lightweight. If you want a great rocket I would look at any of the new liter bikes that are out from Honda,Kawi,Suzuki, and Yamaha. I don't think you would be disappointed by the Busa. |

If I wanted an insane bike for the twisties....I GOT ONE...IT'S CALLED A BUELL LIGHTNING XB12S!! OK...I'm leaning toward the Busa again. Gonna do some serious research online and gonna keep my appointment with the suzuki dealer. He's got 1 2004 Special edition left. I think it's Candy Apple Red. Niiiiiicce!! |

I have never felt safer on a bike at triple digit speeds than my Busa. I've driven most high end cars at triple digit speeds. Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW. The most stable platform I have ever sat in or on at high triple digit speeds is the 'Busa. You think you're going 80 and you're doing 130. Eerie.

Neither how about an SV 1000? Buell should have made a bike like this one. Regards Mike |

I concider the Busa a lazy mans bike. Stable and comfortable in anything but slow, slow tight curves, and enough torque to almost make you forget about shifting. Hooked into a turn the bike hunkers down and won't be upset by surface changes, but smoothly powers through. A ventura rack system converts it into a good tourer, and the front fairing give you good protection against the cold, while the lowers give you supprising leg protection. I've got 30k on my 00. I would freeze on my Buell or Gixxer in conditions where levi's were enough on the Busa. Also, I drone or split lanes 40 to 60 miles to get to the twisties, and I love my comfort. Weighing an extra 100+ pounds more than a repliracer, it doesn't do the slice and dice thing easily. It all depends on what you need. |

I find it hard to like enough a four cylinder machine after owning V twins for years. I enjoyed a rude awakening early this summer, if you can call it a summer we had this year, when I test rode the MV Brutale. It drove so much like a Japanese four it was hard for me to like it. A huge amount of me wanted it to feel raw and alive underneath me, but it didn't. I found that very un Italian. The same could not be said of the MV F4 1000. That motor had so much grunt you could feel how much more alive it was. When they put it in the Brutale I'll test one again. I just like so much the way a V twin seems so bloody raw when you open them up. If like me you enjoy high speed and performance, favourite being from a V twin, the Ducati experience is one to try before you buy ANYTHING ELSE. Rocket |
