We ( a few of us who show up ) changed our meeting to Hooters Bike night after our " president" made a comment about going , to no avail . Im not sure what else to do, there are several of us who really want to get this going but we cannt get anybody else to show up ! |

Blue...Good idea. Hope it works for your group. My question was actually quite baited as I perceive the majority of BRAG Club members as being young with an overload of family and career responsibilities that cut into their personal time. Finding creative ways of overcoming that issue would be interesting. To date, it looks like the 3%'ers and Uke's Clubs have done a good job. Can't wait to see what else works. |

1st thing I'd do is move it away from Hooter's. While this might be great for young single guys, it will probably not appeal to women or older happily married guys like me. You want to pick a spot that is a little more, how can I say this nice, less juvenile, testosterone laden, sit around and ogle the waitresses. While many of you,I'm sure will disagree with me about this, I still feel the club and the meeting place should be somewhere everyone feels comfortable. Less of a boys club. Have lots of rides. Have guest speakers at your meetings. Do you have someone in the dealership promoting the club? This helps a bunch. It is hard work but you can do it. Make everyone, especially the new members feel welcome. Dave |

I agree, that isnt the , well , while visaually appealing , not entirely apporiate . We have a couple of real great people who work @ the local dealership who promote the BRAG stuff as much as possible. Im thinking that we need to get 1 - the same date each mnth. for meetings 2- same date/time for rides each mnth. , Both of those have been varied in an attempt in getting more people fired up about it. Im really wanting this club to start growing, heck even get started ! |

Bluebuell I understand what you are going through. I having one hell of a time just to get the dealership here interested in forming a club. The suggestions that have been made are great. I have the people to start but no sponsership. Well hopefully that will change soon.. From past clubs that I have been in and run setting a same night of the week or month is a big help lets people plan ahead. Plus it helps with getting people to join. Location on meeting is another big thing. Group activites need to be in advance and not changed at the last min. if at all possible. Keep things interesting at all times. Its a lot of work but can be fun for all. |

Hooter's girls are dressed more conservatively than a great number of pre-teen and teen girls these days. The consensus at the meeting was to not have meetings per se. What was suggested was to publicize a ride at least a week and a half in advance, set the time and meeting place along with a suggested route(s). When club members arrive, then take as much or as little time as needed for discussing club business. Breakfast meetings at a restaurant or someone's home has worked in the past for a lot of folks. Following the breakfast meeting, then people could choose to ride if they wanted to. Other venues for pre-ride meetings could be anyplace, like parks, a local biker event like a BattleTrax or a race (for those near tracks), historical landmarks, etc..... Being that we are Buellers and not many of us around compared to other sportbike riders, two or three riders is a group anyway, so we shouldn't be discouraged by low turnouts. Most participants at the meeting said they never want Buell rides to be like HOG type rides with tens of riders making up the group. Go to your regional meeting and bring your ideas. Mike. |

I am beginning to realize that the meeting idea really does not work well for BRAG. We tried to approach the first year with meetings before and after the summer months. None during June-Aug. which seemed to work. But the months we did have meetings, very few showed if any - even after we changed days to members suggestions. Most of the members that show up for rides enjoy just doing the 3-4 hr ride with a stop along the route for a coffee & some BS. They like the smaller groups as well. It seems we can do with out the meetings, most of the info we need to get out is emailed or on the webpage:{http://hometown.aol.com/hudsonvalleybrag/index.html}. We all agree that the HOG approach of making the ride an event for the whole day with a lot of time spent at a eatery is not for us. What the HOG club does in 8-9hrs (mileage)we do in 2-3hrs. So I am going to approach year 2 with a change. Do a KICK OFF meeting in February to get things rolling and gather info (if there are any destinations we would like to consider, track day scheduling, any new ideas, etc) then set a schedule of Saturday and a Sunday ride each month. This would be similar to what we did this past year; first Saturday and third Sunday of the month. This will give a consistant 2 rides a month (weather permitting) with plenty of room for the added rides or rain dates. No further meetings, just get the info out as stated. That will be it - Keeping It Simple, no thinking just riding. We do get good support from the Dealership. They did everything need to start up this past year, as well as putting up the $$$ to make the Club Corporate, some seed $$$, a liitle advetising in the beginning, and letting us run it as we see it to be. The staff at the dealership also tells the new Buell owners about us. Can't ask for more than that from a Dealer, we just need some more Buell riders (hopefully from sales) interested in joining. |

I like the ideas I'm reading. Following the early year planning meeting idea, how about we plan around/ up to, the homecoming event every year. And regional events, with state/ local events. I like the BRAG web based calendar idea that only the officer/chapter person can access to post events. That would be great if you were on a trip, vacation, etc. you could hook up with other Buellers. A great way to meet new Buellers! And for me, being 90 miles from the dealers who have BRAG chapters, I would like that. Keep up the discussion, I'll report in after I go to the meeting in Peoria this Sunday. Ya a 80 plus ride/drive! |

Gomo -- great concept -- I think it's got some real merit I'm also attached to the multi-chapter thing, as one of the issues many chapters seem to face is a lack of critical mass -- for my tastes, at any rate, one or two rides a season with more than 3 or 4 folks is plenty, but I do dig going to someone else's back yard and learning their roads! |
