I had a Sundowner 50cc, pull start, 2spd automatic, hard tail with really stiff front springs.

But when your 6 it was so cool.

...that would be it. Came home in the bed of my pick-up, since I'd never even sat on a motorcycle before. Still got it, and the damned thing's still just as much fun!

: )

Here is my very first (except mine was red)

garelli

Then, for reasons unknown and unexplained, I had a run of bad judgment and was out of motorcycling for a couple decades. Don't know *what* I was thinking (actually, I do know, and it's a little sad, but is for a more philisophical thread someday).

Then I got this one, note the strong Sportster styling cues! The writing was on the wall.

radian

The Radian was a nice little bike for the money, but the suspension was awful. The motor was decent (sport oriented 600cc inline four aircooled), but "sounded wrong" ; )

Then I got the M2. If I could afford a new bike right now, there would be a CityX with my name on it on order from F&S Buell.

(disclaimer, neither of those pics were of my bike, they are google searches).

I also have had a Mini Trail.
The sad thing is. I know where it is.
My uncle has it.
He's had it ever since I got the Honda ST90.
So many tears ago.

Glitch:

The Cushman Club publishes what is arguably one of the best moto mags each month and it's packed full of really good stuff.

My particular 711 was unique (according to Jim Lynn who retired after 50 years at Cushman) as one of 7 they made with dual seats.

It is, not unlike the Buell S-2, a motorbike that, with each ride, provides great satisfaction and rekindles that feeling you got the first time someone kick started the Honda for you and told you

quote:

"sure, take it for a ride. Just don't go on any busy streets".

The words that got most of us in the trouble and company that has changed our lives.

Here is mine although not mine really but, the same bike:
Honda QA 50

After this one I got a 1974 Suzuki TM 75, then went to a 1977 Honda CR 125 Elsinore, after that a Hodaka 125 Road toad, then a 81'YZ 125 after that.

As a teenager in the 60's I lusted for a Triumph Cub. My first bike purchase was a '67 Triumph 500 at the age of 17 in 1970. Some things never change...yesterday I purchased a Triumph Thruxton 900. Thank God I never grew up!!!: )

WOW...my kind of folks....riddle me this...Am I the only one who lusts for things like the Cub, Victor 441, Bonneville, Commando, Sport 90 and CL77 305 Scrambler as much as new hi-tech hardware?

I still have the Honda literature I collected (along with all my VOX and Gibson) in about 1965 and have the fondest memories of thinking I should ease up through the S65 Honda before going all out and trying to ride an S90.

Then one day, I went to Jerry Armstongs to pick up the Gibson SG Standard I'd bought from him. He needed the money to pay for his new S90. He let me ride it and the rest of my life has been downhill.

You guys must really be OLD!

48UL1999, $400.00, 1971, about as high-tech as a large rock, and about the same handling and acceleration. Shoulda kept it. AL

I also had a minitrail that my dad bought me when I was about 7. I think he gave $50 for it. That thing was beat up when I got it, but I rode it, my little brother rode it, my little sister, and numerous cousins. I think it finally bit the dust 20 years after I had it.

KD80M

Mine was Blue and I think a few years older. After that I had a DR100, an IT250, an '82 CB750F SS and now an XB12R.

The KD80 ended up with a seized engine when I left the oil cap off after adding some 2-stroke oil.

Bought it in '71, first day out of the Navy.

Sold it in '92. Not one of my better decisions.

Honu, had one just like yours too, along with a '72 Yamaha 125 Enduro like this one:
 125
except I put an expansion chamber on it -- ring_ding_ding_ding Always got a chuckle as the pipe came with a sticker saying 'Less Sound, More Ground'. Never understood it as I was making all kinds of noise with it.
