Ther are some very cool videos on the site and one of the best one liners I have heard in a while
" I'm not even a salesman, just a mechanic."
Another step in the right direction.
It would make sense to me if you could download the video to your desktop, then let the internet do your walking ie: people would be emailing them to friends etc.

I like the new lightning, and I like the new colors, and I like the videos, and I like the motor just fine and dont need a higher rev limit thank you very much. I never even hit the one I have and have no trouble keeping up with 90% of the people out there (the other ten percent are just better than me, would not matter if they were on a Goldwing probably). Go Buell!!!

"Man, guys are whining a lot today. What did you expect an 1800cc twin turbo "Buell Master 5000" that spins to 15,000 rpm and puts out 200 rwhp with twin eight piston ZTL front brakes, pro-suspension set-up and running on race slicks(and still getting 50+ MPG)." Boomer

I'd buy one. : )

Buell/HD should have taken a page from the guy with the hardbag setup and offered this as an option for the XB series as an add-on.

As for the new line up, what did you really expect, it seemed to be made pretty clear that they weren't coming up with anything too big, just a few mod's. The one big complaint I have is the YELLOW 9R. What is with that? Just doesn't look right.

Well, hand guards and translucent plastic sure seems to have rocked the boat. I like the concept of a V-twin Street Moto. If this "new" model was built as a higher-revving 750 with a few more inches of suspension travel w/chain drive and a 36" seat height I'd be all over it. Of course, I might be the only American buying one, but I imagine the Euro market could support such a machine...albeit limited production numbers. As is, I'll just borrow some parts from it for my 12S and make room for someone else's Motard next to my Buell in the garage. (ridden and like the MZ Street Moto)

MRH, I agree with the extra suspension travel, but I think the 9 motor is already perfect. All in all, I think the citycross is very cool. I would love to see it go even more dual sportish, like the BMW GS, VStrom, or Multistrada, but keeping the streetfighter attitude. They are REALLY close.

Even with regards to a skidplate, to be honest, the stock muffler probably makes a pretty decent skidplate as it is. It is mounted appropriately, is tough as nails, and replaceable. The muffler will deform and absorb impact long before the frame or engine is effected.

Do we know for sure the citycross does not have more suspension travel? Or different springs?

One cool thing about the way they did the color changes is that anyone who bought an XB9 has a pretty unique ride now. There won't be any more straight XB9S's, and all the new XB9R's will be Yellow, so anyone who has a white or blue XB9R or yellow or black XB9S is going to have a really hard time finding any more on the road.

The Blue 2004 XB9R with the racing stripe must be a real rarity (since they made very few 2004's and, as far as I know, only the 2004's had the stripe). I wonder how many of those are on the road?

I have a feeling people will change their tune when they actually see the bikes. Its easy to rip on a picture of a bike, just like I said about that new Yami.

Kinda like if you were lookin through a Playboy and one of the playmates wasn't quite as hot as the other one. But you know if you actually saw her in person you would be pickin rocks up off the ground with your bottom jaw.

Mark my words.

Easy,

Gearhead and I have talked about doing something along the Mississippi, but we're having trouble finding the time. We are doing a ride this weekend with a friend and member of our BRAG club that leaves from a state park here in Waterloo on Sunday. It's just a fun ride, nothing too serious. I wish I could go to Blackhawk in August, but I start school that day. Ralph and I can't even make it to Dave's for his sportbike party. Both of us really want to go, but our BRAG club is putting Battletrax on that weekend. Maybe we can do something in September. (Before the snow flies.)

They're all fun rides, even when you hit fog, snow and rain on the same day. : )

September should give us some good riding weather, and I hope to have more time off myself.

Looks like the list of HD cleaning supplies will have to include "Windex" or some equivalent. Bet the CityX will show the scratches if not properly taken care of. Oh yeah, forgot about "Plexus" works great on that type of surface.

Allot of folks here seem disappointed with the 2005 lineup... can't say I'm surprised. Internet forums seem to attract some pretty critical folks, regardless of the topic.

I used to post here regularly when I owned a couple of Buells, but come back as a lurker to occasionally catch up with the world of Buell...I guess I'm still interested in the brand.

I like the XB9XS. I think the website is cool. My wife and I watched the video clips of Erik...his enthusiasm is contagious. I look out in the garage and see a BMW and a Suzuki and wonder if the designers of those bikes were as passionate about their craft as he seems to be. Both of those bikes are very competent at what they do, but are somewhat uninspiring. All this has me thinking about "rejoining the fold."

I can accept the Buell for what it is...an advanced sportbike chassis powered by a torquey Harley v-twin. That basic platform is likely to remain unchanged in the near future, but will receive some cosmetic adjustments along the way...pretty much like many lines of cars and trucks. In a few years the platform may change and Buells will be redefined. Perhaps then the platform will be more acceptable to some of you.

I'm wondering if the headlight grille and handlebar deflectors are a hint that a true dual sport bike is in the works...something to compete with the BMW 1200GS, Triumph Tiger, and the V-Strom ?

I might just buy one of those urban assault- blinged XB9SX's and enjoy the hell out of it...just to spite what the late [but not so great] Spiro Agnew termed "the nattering nabobs of negativity."

Anybody remember that political button from the early 1970's? Only politician to ever hit a golf ball worse than Gerry Ford. LOL

All I can say is I am SOOOOOOOOOOO happy bought my 2002 M2. The XB line is ok, but still looks like a kids toy. This year it looks like a kids toy with fingergaurds and a grill. And speaking of the grill, what's up with that piece of chicken wire? No motor updates, no new colors (same old colors on different bodies) except the blue.

How about this bike, and XB12R with Yellow body and Black rims??? Even mixing parts from 3 different new bikes all you get is an 1999/2000 M2....

That sure would look cool, but no way would you have "just an M2." I owned an M2 and put 17k miles on it before selling it to get my XB12R. The M2's only advantage is that it's more comfortable- that's it. An XB12 destroys the M2 in any other category you can think of.

That being said, I wish I could have kept my M2. I still have this crazy idea that someday I'll track down the guy I sold it to and buy it back from him. Then again, if I had both the M2 and the 12R to choose from I don't think I'd end up riding the M2 much.
