I am having trouble with what to call the classes for the bike show at the Sportbike day on Aug 21st. One is going to be a Buell sportbike only class. The other will be for all the "other" brand sportbikes. I do not want to call it the "other brand" class and of course Jap bike, rice burner, and all other derogatory terms are not going to work for me. Soooo, I turn once again to the vast think tank known as Badweb for some ideas. Whatcha think? Dave |

how's about US, and Elsewhere/World/Non-US or you could subdivide non-US into Asian and European . . . . . |

Are you going to separate the German from the Italian from the Japanese and so forth, or will it be one great big "non-Buell" class? If so then I'd say to make it real simple: Buell non Buell |

You could always break the classes by number and type of citations earned. Then use the accumulated dollars paid in fines in the event of a tie. |

Buell Plastic Bikes OR naked and Faired, but you'd have to let other bikes into the Buell catagory |

Why not just have a Buell class and a Sportbike class? That way, nobody's sensibilities will be offended. |

Buells, Imports, and break up the imports in to Jap, Brit and Europe. Special construction, Race and Race replica. But doing a show is kinda like Battle Trax you are going to have to assign classes when you see what ya got.

To be honest, I guess my X-1 would fall into that "plastic bike" category. But then again, I do have a custom aluminum tank and a fiberglass fairing going on, so Hybrid? |

OK, so you guys see my dilema. I thought about Buell class and sportbike class but that would infer(and I know some here think this way) that Buells are not sportbikes, which they are. Buell and Import might work? Pushrod and OHC might work but from what I've seen of sportbike riders, they won't know what a pushrod is. Dave |

Well since it's a sportbike show, there won't be any sportsters in it. They are a cruiser. Dave |

Dave- the guys over on the Cafe Sportsters group at Yahoo would argue with you about that! Admittedly, the Sportsters as built by HD today are cruisers, but it wasn't always that way.... |

Personally, I think if you want a classification for Buells only, you should be upfront about it, "Buell" & "Non Buell" If you go for Domestic & Import you're likely to end up with folk whingeing about US built Honda's etc etc If you go metric & non metric where do Buell's fit? If you're feeling in a "don't give a toss" mood on the day, go for "Buell" & "Other Crap" but take a baseball bat with you just in case, Dyna, A Boss Hoss? Only if there's a straight road into the site I like Midknyte's wash idea, could be a real crowd pleaser, Whatever happens don't forget to post some pics for those of us that can't make it (especially the wash) |

Buell and Other crap! Funny stuff but not really what I'm after. I think I'll just do the Buell and Non Buell. I'm only doing 2 classes so that will make it easy, simple to understand and no questions. Dave |
