Anyone put on taller bars on a Cyclone with the tach kit installed? Already tried the S3 bars.
Thanks, Lloyd

Try the '96 S1 bars. They're supposed to be the same height as the S3 bars but don't have the narrow Z50 bend to them.

Any suggestions where I might find a set...or a part number? Anyone out there got a spare?

It was listed in one of my back issues of Battle2Win. I'll have to dig it out of my library.

Flanders makes a set of bars for the buell that raises the height about 2" higher than the "S" series bars. I have them on my M2 and work great. wires don't need to be cut, but they are at there limits.

Flanders 7/8" Buell Touring Handlebars
P/N 650-04501 $72

To the best of my knowledge... There have been only three different bars on the S1/M2/S3.

a - S1/M2 w/the skinny tank
b - S1W/M2/S3 w/the fat tank
c - S3T (fat tank)touring bar

a & b are the same height, the difference is the amount of pullback. Bar a has more for the skinny tank and b has slightly less for clearing the tank.

c is approx two inches taller than a and b.

The stock numbers for the fat tank bar are:

rise(height)= 4"
width= 28"
pullback = 6 1/2"
center = 5"
clamping area(knurled) = 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"

The Flanders Touring bar(above) is actually 4 inches taller and has 8" total pullback.

The S3T bar has 6" of rise -ttbomk

The best approach, sit on your ride and place your hands where you want them to be. Have a friend measure the changes. Apply them to the stock numbers. Thumb thru Flanders' website or any catalog that has the listing for them. Match the numbers up/get as close to what you desire. Watch out for radical amounts of change and cable lengths.

I have done quite abit of prior thinking into this with my M2. Had a custom bar made and all the included hassles that go with it. Lessons learned were applied to my S1.

Bomber,

The big lesson was dealing with someone with lackluster ambitions.

I'll take this into the KV so as not to totally hijack this thread. It'll be after I get home from work though.

I was lucky the first time around, came real close to what is/was optimum for me. Some fine tuning took care of that this last time.

Hey, don't go! there are other people out here who have just as much interest in possible new handlebar bends who just haven't spoken up yet. I'm all ears; or eyes; or somethin'.

I finally found the P/N for the '96'97 bars. The old part number is 55925-96Y (thanks Don Castro). The parts counter might be able to cross reference it. The Flanders bars would be cheaper though. There is also a P/N for international bars as well, 55872-97Y. I have no idea what the difference is.
I also found out the '99+ M2 bars are a different part number. This is what you have stock.

The switch was made to the ergo/control section of the KV

Lowell,

You would be searching for the S3T touring bar. It should clear the mount and cables will fit. You may need to cut a tie strap or two to get some extra freedom for them.

I already tried the S3 bars. They won't clear the instrument cluster after I installed the tach kit. I've got a line on the S1 bars, thanks for the input. LT

LT,

The S1 bar will work with the fat tank. The only problem, the pullback will allow the controls to bounce off your tank.

The S1W bar is the same bar you already have.

Just food for thought
